Recently I found out that a new groomer, dog boarding, doggie daycare place opened up! YAY:) I'm taking Maggie on Friday to get groomed because the lady has a lot of great reviews! I'm looking into the doggie daycare while I'm there to see how it looks and maybe take jace and Maggie once a week or every other week. Is there any warning signs I need to look for or questions to ask? Thanks in advance!

I asked how they discipline, how they monitor a fight, if they do nap times and stuff like that. Cally's daycare had cameras all over the facility and I have an app I can check in on her with! I love it and she LOVES daycare!

I'm new to doggy day care myself, and it's been a fantastic experience. we take her once a week and she comes home a happy and pooped pooch.  I checked out 3 different places before selecting the one we take Zoe to now.  Here were my questions:

  • How many people on staff? Do they monitor the dogs closely and intervene if necessary?
    • The place I chose has a separate big dog and little dog area.  Zoe is 60 lbs, but super gentle, so often if they have aggressive dogs in the big dog section, they put her in the little dog area.  other places just had one big room, and very little staff to really actively monitor.
  • Are there indoor and outdoor areas?
  • Are the dogs crated for extended periods (my place never crates unless there's a severe behavior problem - the dogs romp around and play under supervision)
  • Are there areas for 'rest'
  • What do they do in case of an emergency/accident/etc
  • Will they accommodate feeding/medicine schedule if needed (at no additional cost)

I am *very* happy with our doggy day care and think it's an excellent way to socialize and burn off energy.  Hope it works out for you!

I love my doggy daycare.

The things they told me when I went in which made me feel good about it.

All dogs are assessed and no aggressive dogs are allowed to be there.

There are two large dog and one small dog section and they separate the dogs based on temperament and energy levels.

Get to know the staff, the staff where I go genuinely love dogs and they like to know about your dog.

Do they give you updates on what happened through the day (mine does)

They have a time out area for dogs that misbehave.

Will they let you stay and see how the dogs interact and how they interact with the dogs.

Do you feel comfortable with the people that work there.

Max goes once or twice a week for three hours each time and he loves it. He is usually a bit of a baby about leaving me but not at doggy daycare!
