Found my puppy.Ready in 2 weeks. A little older-5 months-but has had 2 weeks of training academy and is going good. A little red. and white parti boy. Will still get pup in July, this little guy will maybe help to train pup. Hopefully when I retire will have 2 therapy dogs to keep me out of trouble. Now working on name. Happiest have been in months-reason to get motivated.

I hadn't chimed in because others were so eloquent and informative, you didn't need more input. Your doubts were certainly valid and I applaud your decision. You will find the right pup. I encourage you to get only one until you have gotten it to the adult stage so that you can concentrate on it and its training. It may or may not turn out to be therapy material, but it will bond with you rather than its litter mate.
I'm just coming to this now and am sad that you were nearly duped but so so glad that the wondeful Dkers here did the necessary detective work and discovered some unpleasant truths in time. With their help you will, I am sure get your puppy and it will be the right one for you. Good luck in your continuing search. We will all be so happy when it happens. Thank you for taking advice from the most knowledgeable and kind doodle people on earth :)
Oh Pam - when I first read your post I was soooo happy for you although I did think having two puppies so close in age was going to be a challenge! Now that I've read through all of the posts, I am so sorry for you! It must be heartbreaking! I know when I was looking for Myla, every time I turned down a breeder (on the web) I was deflated - I thought I would never get my puppy but now that I have my perfect dog, I am so glad that I hung in there! I had a "backyard breeder" goldendoodle dog previously who was awesome, but died at the age of five - we were heartbroken but decided (before even learning all we had on DK) that we would definitely get the best bred puppy we could so we already knew the risks! I am so glad that you had everyone here looking out for you and your puppy will come! but I know you must be feeling so discouraged - so glad you decided to go with all of the knowledge here on DK - we all want the best puppy for you! Hang in there!!!!!!
Pam, I know it's a bit of a wait until July - but I am so very happy that you are passing this little one by.
Motivation can now come without doubt and you can relax and prepare for one puppy, get the bond and training - enjoy.
I'm sure it's heartbreaking to leave the little one behind when you had your heart set on him, but I think you are being wise. Who knows what problems you might have encountered in the future - enough can go wrong with any puppy, even from the best breeder, but why start out with 3 strikes? I too feel horrible for all the puppies and dogs at this breeder and those like hiim. But your perfect pup is out there!
I have not heard any thing from the kennel since I emailed him to tell him I was not taking the puppy. How do you get these people out of business and what happens to all those puppies there? I wish I had the nerve to tell him off-not good at confrontation. Again thank you all.
Pam -- You just did one of the main things that it takes to get these people out of business and that is not buying their puppies. If people don't buy they will be forced to stop breeding. The best case scenario for what happens when they can't sell a puppy is it ends up with a rescue organization and gets placed that way.
Lucy is right! By not buying their puppies it's the best thing you can do to help. Also, we did report a woman to the Better Business Bureau just so that others contemplating getting a puppy from her could hear our experience. I'm not sure if you'd want to do that but we felt strongly. She, like your breeder, offered us a puppy that was about 4 months old and claimed that she was considering keeping her to breed her but changed her mind. When I asked where her parents were she made up some lame excuse. Her entire house (beautiful house) SMELLED like dog feces and I could hear puppies in her basement barking, most likely they were in cages. We reported her to BBB.
I wish I lived close enough to "drop by" and investigate a little
