I think all doodles are popular dogs, but I have to admit I prefer males. And yes, do encourage anyone thinking of getting a dog to get a good breeder or sign up for a rescue or rehome. Definitely no backyard breeders or pet stores.
Great photo.
Yogi is an absolute sweetheart- no surprise that people love him. Much to my surprise, I still run into many people who do not know what a doodle of any sort is. I have to explain the pairing of breeds and they remark that they have never heard of it.
Terrific photo! Yogi is so adorable, I'm not surprised so many people wanted to pet him. There's just something about doodles :)
He is so cute and a great ambassador for doodles!! Is he as soft as he looks?
I have the same experience everywhere i go with my doodles--occasionally I run into a negative person--who says something like "oh, a mutt" with a smirk, but that does not happen often--when I tell people I raise labradoodle pups for a breeder, they always break out in a smile and comment on what a fun job that must be!
I was at a health clinic last weekend getting some health tests done on some of our breeding dogs and the clinic was sponsored by a club of Cavalier King Charles Spaniel owners--most of the people there had purebreds of all kinds--but they were all admiring our dogs and being very friendly. A few years back, there was scorn for us with our mixed breeds--so it is getting better.
Yogi is a wonderful representative for doodles everywhere!
Chirsty, I can relate to containing the excitement...I used to tell people Eloise was a kangaroo. :)
Yogi is such a cute guy! And posing so nicely for the camera!! :) I had the same experience with Eloise most of her whole first year. There's something about a doodle puppy (or just doodle!) that seems to draw people in. Everywhere we went, I was amazed by all the attention she got. I used to think, this must be what it's like to walk around with a celebrity all the time - haha. People would surround her (well, surround us - but I was just the one holding her leash LOL!) And of course she was all too happy to oblige those who wanted to greet her and pet her.
It seemed like about two-thirds knew she was a doodle, most of the rest thought she was a Wheaten Terrier, and there were some who just didn't know what she was. I will never, ever forget the guy who yelled to us from his front porch when we were on a walk - he wanted to know what she was. He just thought she was beautiful. He could not get the word "goldendoodle" until we had about 6 back and forths. ("A golden what?? A what noodle??") He yelled into the house to his wife, "Hey Phyllis, you gotta come see this dog!!" He was just taken by her - it was pretty fun to see.
