When is it okay to start running?

Roxy is 11 months old, and I just got a bike and a Bike Tow Leash for my birthday. I know she shouldn't do repetitive running while she's still growing, but what is the recommended age for a doodle to start running? I've been taking her just around the block with the bike at a slow trot just to get her used to it.

I am a runner so one of my first questions when we got Hurley was how soon and for how long.  I was told no more that 10 minutes at a time and no more than 3 times per day for several months with slight increases after a year.  The vet said no long runs until 24 months and his trainer said 18-24 months. So at 18 months I started to take him on more regular runs with me but I kept the runs short and gradually increased them.  Hurley is now 26 months old but I still do not take him running for any distance over 3 miles (my choice) but I do take him for long hikes in the hills behind us.  I am sure there are other recommendations that will be very helpful to you.  Have fun. To me there is nothing like it when taking Hurley on runs and hikes.  It is our time.

Thanks for the great info! I can't wait to take Maserati running with me, but he's only 7 months and has a little while longer to wait.
