Roxy is 11 months old, and I just got a bike and a Bike Tow Leash for my birthday. I know she shouldn't do repetitive running while she's still growing, but what is the recommended age for a doodle to start running? I've been taking her just around the block with the bike at a slow trot just to get her used to it.

I take Hurley on short runs.  He is only 16 months so I keep the runs short when he comes along.  After he turns 2 I hope to increase his runs in frequency. It gets pretty hot here in the Las Vegas area so I need to invest in a good set of booties for him. Has anyone had any experience with booties?  What brand would you suggest? We also take him up to the snow in Brian Head, Utah.  He loves it but I noticed his paws get iced up.  Should he be wearing booties when in the snow?  Can he wear the same pair for both summer and winter? How difficult is it to put them on?

Other than the usual walks and tennis ball chases, Brontë enjoys going with her Daddy on daily bike rides :)
Gets rid of some of her excess crazy doodle energy! xo

I used to use an empty water bottle with the lid off.  Put a few pieces of kibble in it, and let the puppy chase it around the house.  Lots of fun, and a little reward when they knock it around.  :)

My vet let me take mine out around the neighborhood.  He said no visits to Pet Stores or dogparks but outside was ok, carefully.

We took Annie hiking up at Red Top Mountain in Georgia. She loved it we described it as Disney world for dogs. LOL!!!!! There was lots of fallen logs that Annie loved jumping, there is a lake with beaches, and lots of leaves for Annie to play in. There was a " Leaf Storm" . Annie tried to catch all the leaves. We saw lots of dogs , and Annie loved seeing them. We took her down to the beach to see if she liked water and......... SHE LOVED IT AND
WOULDN'T GET OUT. We finally got her out and she was exhausted ( the hike all together was 6 or more miles). We had to go to the Dog Spa for an emergency groom ( and a blueberry facial and massage, might I add). The lady there was soooo nice she stayed pass hours just to get Annie groomed.
Annie got great excersise!!!!

All we do to keep our Gracie Doodle fit is to throw or "chuck-it" her tennis ball over and over. We throw it as far as we can and she will run and look back and track it in the air so she can catch it on the first bounce. She prefers two in a row and then brings them both back in her mouth. If the ball bounces really high she springs through the air and catches it mid air. I think she would do this over and over until she passed out. She never tires of the game. Last year she did it so much on cement that she wore her back toenails down to the quick and they were bleeding. She had to wear booties for a couple of weeks so they would heal. Gracie doesn't get human food and only Chicken jerkey treats so she is very lean. She weighs 70 lbs. and is a Standard Goldendoodle 2 years old. You can feel her ribs and spine too. She free feeds and is really not that interested in her food but eventually finishes it by 10:00 PM. So...I don't have to do much to keep her in shape!!! You should see my arm from throwing the ball!!!! ha ha

Oh, it's just too cute. I've seen flyball but never with a doodle! Gracie is that fast but not that motivated. Enjoy your sport!!!

On our page, I just posted a couple of videos of Halas at flyball practice. We've still got a long way to go. The videos show him going over the jumps. The first one is just 3 jumps, partly to warm up and partly to give him some confidence. The second one is 4 jumps. We do this one several times. Every once in awhile, he'll go around one of the jumps. The instructor thinks he's just working on his timing in between jumps, so sometimes he thinks it's quicker to go around instead of over. We're trying to get him to realize that he's fast enough and big enough to just hit the ground once in between jumps.

That happens to Lola sometimes.
