Well, Yogi is now 7 1/2 months old he had been the very best puppy ever. I've wanted to get another doodle since I first thought about him.
DH said go for it this morning. So give me your best reasons I shouldn't do this. I thought I'd like to get one within the next 6 months so they will be near the same age and maybe also a little smaller like 25#'s. His mom and dad have been bred together again and due in another month or so.

Tell me why it's a bad idea ;-)
... Or if you must, why it's a good idea. Thanks!!!!!

Ummmm I have 3 so I'm not a good one to talk you out of it but I will say it is a lot more expensive. Also it's 3 times the training because you have to trsin one, than the other and them both together. There is more poop.

But there is more love and multiple doodle antics are one of my very favorite things. My hubby and I love to watch them wrestle and play. So I'm trying not to be a multiple doodler enabler here. But it's very worth it,IMO! ;)

Thanks Jenn,

I've watched you increase your clan from 1 to 3, so I know you won't discourage me.  I am more fortunate in that my kids are grown.  I don't know how you do it with 3 doodles and children!  Thanks for your input!

I've always had dogs in pairs, until 2010-2013 (the gap between two shelties passing). Having one for a while was so nice, but also Maggie was aging and had health issues at the end. We plan to add another doodle a year or so after our first (this May!). I have three sons...so part of me thinks it is crazy to add another dog after we get the new puppy settled. I also want people to tell me why this is a bad idea, lol, but I'm pretty sure we will want our pup to have a friend :)

Exciting, are you actively looking yet?  I know it tooks months to finally find and get Yogi, so I figure if I want it to happen soon, I should get busy looking.  Good luck with your decision

I'm not looking yet - my DH would die, lol! I've just about potty-trained my youngest human, so we will have to get through all the puppyhood stuff this year before I can dream of adding another puppy. I'd probably go back to the same breeder though, based on experience thus far (and I'll reserve judgement until this pup is settled and healthy here!).

I want another one too!! Except I would have to wait because Daisy isn't even 5 months :(

haha, Daisy is the name I want :-)

We call her Daisy Doodle :P

Because it is so much cuter when you have the "Mutt and Jeff- really different but best friends dogs! When Hoka is full grown, he will tower over Moxie.

Get another dog for sure, but I like them to be distinct!

Also, I hate to even think it... but we just lost 2 older dogs to different cancers in the last 6 months.  When they are close in age you are at higher risk of doubling both expenses and sadness.  We try to keep the dogs a few years apart in age.

Thanks!  Another one of the main reasons I want the puppy now is that I'm now 58.  So 58, + the possible life span of a doodle = I don't think I should wait too much longer.

Btw, your puppies are adorable.

Thanks,  They are really good together and the best of buds… I do always have more then one dog.  They are happier in a pack. "Moxie" was named for her ability to hold her own with my 2 previous big dogs Torrey (husky mix) and Tinker (doodle).  She thinks she is big. She was so lonely after they died, we got her a new doodle friend. Here she is with the late, great Tinker!

I love your great pictures Marie!  I think when they are an only dog, you are their pack.  When we have other dogs for a week or two, Gavin of course has a great time playing and such, but he is never fully relaxed, if they move he moves, he always seems on alert.  When the dog leaves he crashes for a full day, finally fully at ease.  So it is my thought that whatever they are used to makes them happy.
