Hey guys! Sorry for how gross this will sound.

I took Kona to the vet yesterday for shots and she was totally fine, but this morning she started having loose stools, which then turned into complete diarrhea. Nothing has changed in her routine to cause her anxiety, however, I did start upping her feedings a few days ago. Could this be the cause? I'm concerned because her stomach has gotten sick twice in the last hour (after she ate).

Thanks for any help!

I am sorry to hear all this and I hope things settle quickly.
Glad to hear they did not find anything. Hope things get better soon. Hang in there.
Was it actually an aggressive bite, or a rambutious nipping?

Aggressive. But it was while I was trying to clean up her vomit - she was angry because she wanted to eat it, therefore, bit me as hard as she could.

What meds is she on?

Just looked at the papers and they did give her Metronidazole. Should I hold off and not give it to her?

They also gave her Fortiflora and Diagel (one of which they gave orally at the vet).

Fortiflora is not a med, it's a crappy overpriced probiotic made by Purina which I had mentioned above. Since you paid for it, I guess you may as well use it, because it's doubtful they will take it back. It contains a very nasty flavoring agent called "animal digest" which is on The Dog Food Project's list of ingredients to avoid.

I would order Proviable DC capsules on-line to have on hand for the future.

I personally would not give the metronidazole without a very good reason. If you do, it must not be given within two hours of the Fortiflora (or any other probiotic) which they probably didn't tell you. And it is crucial that probiotics be continued for a few weeks after the metronidazole is discontinued. Otherwise, you may end up with chronic loose stools.

I sure hope she gets better soon.

So sorry you are going through this. Hope things get better soon. Keep us updated!

I just saw this after I just posted a discussion about "poopy accidents after vaccines".  My pup always poops in the crate overnight every time he gets vaccines. No diarrhea, just his regular stool. So weird. Vet has no explanation for it.  I guess it's just how our pups react?  Maybe to annoy us for taking him for shots LOL...

Wanted to post a picture of just how bad the bite is. It's very swollen if you can't tell in the photo.

Truffle's bites look like those (we've had resource guarding issues with him).  The first time it happened I was beside myself. It was right after he received his rabies shot (and I still wonder if there was a connection). It's happened 3-4 times since then and now I just get angry and attempt to show him who's boss.  Unlike Truffle, I would imagine Kona's reaction has much to do with the fact that she's not feeling well. The bruising makes it look a lot worse than it is, at least in my case.  I hope she starts feeling better soon!

Lauren, that looks really painful. I'm so sorry. She is probably really stressed from not feeling well and everything she has been through the last few days. I hope you are both feeling better soon.

May I ask what vaccine it was that she got? How old is Kona? I just so happen to be reading an article about pet vaccine reactions.
