Hey all! so I saw a comment on another post about how pesticides and fertilizers can be deadly to dogs..i didn't know that..  just from them walking on grass that has this on them they can die? i walk Midas around everywhere and he always walks on the grass...if i see that white powdery stuff on the grass i pull him away. dogs can literally die if they get some on their paws and then lick them? i don't know who has what on their lawns as i walk him 2 miles a day.. i read someone say you should walk your dog in the street..but the streets by me are pretty busy and i worry about cars, plus he wont poop in the street.. does he need his paws wiped with a wet wipe when he comes in?? what do you all do? thanks in advance! :)

I wipe my doodle's paws when I get home if I think they walked in anything that could make them sick.  I do not fertilize any area of my lawn that the doodles go on.  I am always so worried that they will get sick.

I do tend to keep them off strange lawns, I am lucky to have quiet streets and they generally poop at home. I prefer not to have to carry the bag of shame home! Lol
I had one dog who had allergic reactions on her paws from lawn products, so we are extra careful.

They are deadly to you too, but mostly we just encounter them on our fresh foods.  We never use any kinds of fertilizers or insecticides on our planter boxes at school and I have taught the students that little bites from insects are actually good signs that insecticides have not been used.  People still like to use all types of fertilizers on their lawns and crops.  My friend buys cases of diet drinks and think they are better for her.  I told her that artificial sweeteners are poison (actually sugar is poison and artificial sweeteners are ABSOLUTELY poison).  She told me that it was just a little bit, and I told her you don't mind drinking poison if it is "just a little bit"?  It got her thinking and she stopped getting the diet drinks.  Well, one thing at a time.  My husband has given up his Roundup, maybe he will give up fertilizers next.  Take it a step at a time.

We too, wipe off their paws when we come home!

I use nothing toxic on my lawn. I avoid lawns with flags from the lawn care people on them. But I don't wipe paws unless they are wet or dirty.

I only have my front yard treated and my doodles are never on that grass. I never walk my doodles in anyone's grass, only in the street. But I am lucky to live in a neighborhood that it very quiet  and only residents  who live here drive here. All the grass companies tell us that the chemicals are ok for animals...I don't believe them.Wipe your doodles paws after a walk.
