Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Okay, our puppy arrives home next month and I have been staying clear of the food group lately as it is raising my worry level over food and tummy issues. So, I thought, there surely are folks out there with a positive experience? Raise your paws and respond here if your puppy has never had long-term tummy issues, and tell me if you have a goldendoodle or a labradoodle. Also, which food do they eat? Just looking for some reassurance - thank you!

Hi I was really careful. Guess you will just have to see how it goes. Enjoy it is so exciting to get a new baby.
Bailey is raising her paw! We got her at 6 months of age and she is almost 3 years old now.....went through two food changes (just because I was not knowledgeable at first about the "good food" choices)....never had any tummy issues at all!! Bailey the mini/medium goldendoodle has a strong tummy! Enjoy your new pup and just rest assured that the Food Group will be there IF you ever need advice!
:) Our paws are raised.... (all of them from two doodles and two Yorkies) :) I have never for one day ever had issues with food or tummy's. I've been feeding Orijen puppy then switched to the all red meat formula and have never had problems. My first doodle, (they are Australian Labradoodles) started out with my Yorkies on something else before I switched to grain free Orijen when I got my second doodle. 9 months ago. Never a problem even in switching.
I hope you don't have problems and it is a bit overwhelming to read of so many having so many issues with food, tummy problems, bowel problems, allergies etc. . Good luck :)
Ours is an australian labradoodle.
No big tummy issues. Have been very happy with Wellness Core Grain-Free Puppy, and had obsessively researched before picking this brand. Have read lots of great things on here about Orijen and Acana, and if she ever has issues, will likely try those first, but so far, so good. She was on Premium Edge Puppy when she got home from breeder. She did have upset stomach then (which is very common- can be stress related or giardia or any number of things). Got her checked from vet and luckily not a parasite. After a couple of days of bland diet, we went straight to Wellness food and haven't looked back. She loves the food and it agrees with her very well.
One issue we were having when we first got her was eye boogers/runny eyes, which is very common in doodles. On another thread, someone suggested switching her from tap water to filtered water. We fill her bowl from the same Brita filter we drink out, and no runny eyes anymore.
Congrats on your new pup!
Thank you! I will be using the RO (reverse osmosis) water that we drink for the puppy too. That makes a big difference for sure.
Our goldendoodle Luna doesn't really have any persistent tummy issues as long as she is fed properly. We just have to steer clear of chicken and high fat treats. She eats Acana kibble and usually eats Wellness soft treats.
I have one Labradoodle and one Goldendoodle, neither have had any tummy issues except Boris when he was six months old but that was something he picked up and was what I would term an acute episode rather than a 'sensitive tummy' issue. I transitioned both to Orijen after two weeks on whatever they came home on. The transition in Riley's case took three weeks of soft stools but it sorted and we have never looked back. I don't remember any issues with Boris . I do not add toppers and am very very cautious regarding treats.
Thank you ALL! This brings me tremendous relief to hear the positive (pawsitive, lol) stories. Feeling much better about it now and will get my Orijen puppy food in hand soon so that we have it for the transition 2 weeks after puppy arrives home.
