It is time to look for new collars for the girls.  I saw some beautiful braided kangaroo martingales but the lady that makes them is struggling with hand issues and no longer making them.  Looking for suggestions from those of you that love your collars.  I flat collar on Polly makes a mess of her neck hair so I thought braded leather or maybe even rolled leather...suggestions?

Cally has a very thick fleece coat and curly around th neck so I understand the knotted mess with collars! My breeder swears by the the New Earth Organic Collars and she sends all her puppies home in them and all her dogs wear them. I tried another collar and she was knotted with in the day. i went back to the one my breeder gave us ( i had to buy a bigger size) amd as lomg as you brush the neck hair like normal it works great! Although they are plain colors they are organic, pretty colors and do not make them knot/mat. I just up their collars with pretty tags!
I have good luck with rolled leather, inexpensive collars from Petco as the dogs full time collars.

I love collars and both boys wear flat leather beaded collars from a charity in Kenya. As they are flat I just trim the hair a bit shorter around the neck so they can be seen and there is no matting. Riley has been wearing his for two years and it is as good as when I bought it. I just clean the leather with oil occasionally. Here is a link I found.

Pretty collars.

Those are really quite unique and beautiful!

Those are beautiful collars!
Cocoa used to wear a flat martingale, but with her soft, fleecy coat she got too matted around her neck. I bought a rolled leather collar, and it has greatly reduced the matting. They're not pretty and artistic, but worth it!

Ragley wears a flat fabric collar and I have never had any issues with matting. I make all her collars, but many specialty pet stores and small companies at farmers markets around here sell similar items.

I found a collar about 5 years ago that I am completely in love with.  We have dogs that are always in the water and I was always replacing them due to their smell and staining after a while.  I found this line of collars  called "Dublin Dog Collars"   They sort of feel like rubber, but I swear to god, they NEVER smell.  I finally replaced them about a year ago but only because I was sick of looking at the same pattern for so long.  I will definitely buy one for our new puppy once he is finished growing.  I will not waste my $ again on anything else....

I've hard awesome things about Paco Collars, but they are pricey leather ones.  What was neat, that I heard, is that when your dog passes you can turn in his/her collar and they will make you a bracelet form the leather.  They also have excellent customer service, says my old trainer.

There is a fab collar site called PetRunway...loads of gorgous collars to choose from. I'm sorry I started looking LOL

Flat collars mat George's hair as well, we love our ruffwear knot a collar. It's rope. It doesn't mess up her fluff, and isn't too girly, we like the more rugged look of it and it has held up beautifully. Definitely not cute though. ;)
