is this a good set and price for clippers?

Are these good clippers to help me cut my doodle in a long flow coat and around his ears? It's an Andis and at walmart.  Is there a better one?  I can pay a little more if I need to; I just don't really know what blades I need for the long flow dood look.

I can't open it to see the clippers. Maybe someone else can. I can tell you we have an Andis clipper. So far I've only used it to trim under his belly and between his pads on his feet. I think the longest I've seen that you can leave the coat with a comb attachment is about 1 1/2"

I had trouble with links. This one is andis under 40at petsmart. What should I be looking for? Specific blades?

I also have the 2 speed andis clipper with metal combs. It cost around $135.00. I'm afraid you might be sorry with such an inexpensive one

As Leslie mentioned, the longest you can really go with an electric clipper (with the longest comb attachment) is about 1-1/2". Otherwise, you'd want to do scissor cutting rather than clipper cutting. I have no experience with the Andis clipper you linked to, but I got this one at PetEdge.com. Sorry, I just tried to link to it and it seems PetEdge.com no longer carries it. Its an Andis AGC Super 2 Speed.

I love it and so far its a real work-horse, with doing 2 doodles every 4 weeks or so. I don't find I really use the lowest speed, though, and I'm not sure why I'd use it. Maybe someone can chime in here and let me know? But its cool running and the handle stays cool. I do oil the blade several times during each groom, which I think helps. If you truly do want to do clipper cutting rather than scissor cutting then you'll want a good quality clipper and Andis is one of the best. Quiet too, at least compared to a Wahl. You'd want a stainless steel clipper comb attachment set as well, and Wahl makes a very good one:

i just read some of the reviews on Amazon for the Andis AGC Super 2 Speed and was surprised there were a few comments that the clipper gets hot. That certainly hasn't been my experience. Maybe the blade gets hot, which is to be expected, but I always use attachment combs so the blade never comes in contact with the dogs' skin. Makes me wonder, though, if they're talking about the same clipper.

That is a  light duty clipper. In my experience, even for one dog at home that will not cut it for a doodle. Especially if you want a long flow coat. Andis 5 speed would be my recommendation or the ACG like someone else mentioned. I groom professionally. It comes with a 10 blade which you can put the attachment combs over but most groomers I know use a 30. A 10  will give you a rougher look depending on consistency of coat.
