We have had endless fun with this toy (basically like a giant cat toy for dogs).  Oliver did eventually kill the stick, but we just tied the toy to a piece of rope and still have tons of fun chasing it around.  The plush part of it has been super durable (no stuffing inside).  He wouldn't let us sleep if we forgot to hide the toy because all he wanted to do was play play play!

In this order:

1. Any other dog.

2. Any paper or cardboard that can be shredded.

3. Sticks she finds in the backyard.

4. My socks (although she doesn't destroy them, only carries them around thankfully).

5. Dog toys I have actually purchased for her to play with. (All in mint condition I might add.)

I saw this and smiled. This is basically true for Addie. I save toilet paper and paper towel tubes for her.

My guys LOVE nylabones.  They love stuffies too, but they do destroy them quickly.

When we first got Jack his favorite toy was a water bottle with a few pennies in it. At the time we had a long hallway with wood floors. I would roll/slide the bottle down the hall. The pennies (or as someone else suggested rocks) made it go wobbly. He loved chasing it and the crinkly sound it made when he chewed on it. You could tie it into a sock also. Just remember to supervise.

You give Libby a ball and she is in heaven.  Any ball at all will do and she LOVES to play fetch!  She reminds us constantly it is time to go and play!

With so many people mentioning socks, I feel like it's important to say that you really need to puppy proof your home and make sure that the pup can't get hold of any socks or other articles of human clothing. I know that most of you are just saying your dogs like socks and not recommending that anyone actually give them to their puppies, but I think it's important to clarify this for possible first-time dog owners.

Many, many dogs have died from eating socks, including some right here on DK. A portion of a swallowed sock can become lodged in the GI tract causing an obstruction, and if you are very lucky, your puppy can be saved with a $3000 surgery and possible permanent damage of the digestive tract.

You must make sure that all socks and clothing items are put out of reach of the puppy at all times.
