Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Okay, our puppy arrives home next month and I have been staying clear of the food group lately as it is raising my worry level over food and tummy issues.  So, I thought, there surely are folks out there with a positive experience?  Raise your paws and respond here if your puppy has never had long-term tummy issues, and tell me if you have a goldendoodle or a labradoodle.  Also, which food do they eat? Just looking for some reassurance - thank you!

Man I'm stopping at your store next time I drive through town! Orijen in the long beach area is closer to $100 a bag!

Wow! Elliot's is in what we call The Brocton Arcade on Brocton Ave.  not that far off the Arlington Ave.  freeway exit - worth the trip.

Have you researched Chewy.com to buy Orijen? Their prices are reasonable, and shipping is free.

Chewy.com has the best prices I've seen for Orijen.

I use the money I save on not paying tax or shipping on my Orijen from buying it online to support our local store by buying smaller/less expensive items. That way I still support them without having to pay tax on the major items like an $80 bag of food. Tax in TN makes adds almost $8 to my bill for food. I'd rather spend that $8 on treats or dental bones. :)

I've switched foods several times, trying to get rid of an itching problems that I'm finding isn't food related. I slowly transition by mixing the new food with the old for a couple weeks. The only food I had problems with was Blue Buffalo - instant diarrhea! When I tried grain-free, he started grazing in the grass!  Guess that doesn't work - ha ha!   I feed homemade biscuits and real meats for snacks. Never know what is in those snack they have out there!

We used Blue Buffalo once with my sheltie and she did not like it.  Funny, the food expert at Natural Pawz said he used to work for Blue Buffalo, but he never fed it to his dog!  He used Orijen for the puppy stages, and now he feeds his dog Primal/Raw.

3 F1 Labradoodles and No food/No tummy issues and they have all been on Canidae All Stages...before that it was some other pseudo or semi-healthy food I don't remember.  Not a grocery store brand, but probably wouldn't have made the 'ok' list here.

Thanks again, all!  Happy to hear all the positive reports on tummy issues.  Two more days until Molly Rose is in our hands =)

I have a goldendoodle.....no tummy troubles here.....he eats Acana wild prairie

Best of luck with your new little one!

My two Goldendoodles have stomachs of steel. I have had them on Fromm, Candidae, Taste of the WIld, Wellness, Raw, and home cooked in their life time and never an issue with any. They do eat a lot of grass, but that comes and goes with the new grass shoots coming in. I get an occasional upset tummy from one of the eating non food items, but otherwise, no issues. So yes, there are a great number of dogs/doodles that do not have tummy issues.
Molly is constantly picking at grass and grabbing wood chips! I'm scooping her mouth and training for "drop it", but what happens if she actually eats these? I'm sure some grass goes down, but prob not wood chips. I scooped a June bug and a dead bee (yikes) out yesterday. As soon as we go outside, she's nose to the ground :)
