Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I am curious what people pay for their doodle's grooming. Ours is a 4 1/2-month, 15lb miniature labradoodle, and it seems like the groomer we go to (Mountain View) might be WAY out of range, cost wise? What do you normally pay for the usual grooming (bath, trim, nails, etc), and any recommendations in South Bay (in the event that it turns out we are WAY overpaying?)

We have run the groomer gamut in this area for the last 9 years.  Ozzie weighs 49 lbs and is easy to groom.  Right now we are using BowWowMeow in Menlo Park.  His groomer there does a really nice job and the total hit with tip is $130.  There is a wide range of groomer prices.  We used an "at home" groomer who charged $80.  She was good but it was difficult to schedule.  I think the normal range is $90-150 in this area.

Thanks - our total today (NOT including tip) was $140 but it sounds like that's not totally out of the realm of possibility. I wonder if it might have also been higher because we were more on the picky side - just wanted a trim, not more of a shave-type cut, etc... A friend who lives north though said oh wow that's crazy, it's $45 where I live. So I wondered if we were royally ripped off. But I also figured South Bay / SF is way more expensive than lots of other areas...

i dont know if it helps, but we're on the East Bay and I've paid $90 once at Petco, Jagger is a standard size doodle. and this last time I paid $75 at a different, better place, that includes cut, nails and bath. Plus tip

I'm not in the south bay but I have taken Georgia twice now to a large grooming place in Alameda. Georgia was 5.5 months the first time and 7.5 months the second time. Both times it was 70 (not including tip) and the first time I got a 10% discount for being new.

Did you go to Under One Woof?  That's where we groom Oliver and $70 plus tip is our cost too.

In SF for a 50 lb doodle, expect to pay a minimum of $90 + $20 tip. If there are mats, then they might charge more. Hope this helps.

We've lived a few places in the Bay Area and have switched groomers with each move bc of convenience. For reference Buddy is 85 lbs and Kevin is 75 as of last week. I was floored by Critter Clippers in MV charging over $300 for a large dog, so we did not go there like everyone else in the neighborhood did.

- when we lived in San Jose we took Buddy to Caroline's in Milpitas. $60 cash or check only. Great cut and overall good experience. We had a bad experience with the groomer at Barkley Square (now red rover per resort - and even worse experience after change of ownership).

- moved to mountain view and switched to Diva Dogs mobile grooming. $150, but the ease of it and Buddy only being gone for 2-3 hours instead of all day was worth it. Love Jerel and Cindy. :-)

- moved to lafayette and switched to Oksana's mobile groom. This is around the time Kevin came home and I think the boys are around $150 each. I like Oksana and the boys do too, she does a great job with their cuts and I love her std poodles.

Thank you - this is SUPER helpful!

Hi Michele- I take my mini Champ to Wag Hotels Redwood City and his grooming is about $45 plus $10 for trimming nails and $10 for nail scrub.  Their groomer Kelly is awesome!
