Ok, So I'm curious if when you picked your puppy, you noticed certain physical characteristics such as your puppy having long thin legs so you assumed it would be tall or if they had shorter stockier legs you thought he/she would be heavier and shorter. I'm very curious if now your pup is an adolescent/adult, do those qualities still hold true? Wondering if there is a pattern. Looking forward to the responses:)

I's say Hoka is becoming much more lanky than I thought... which is a good thing. We thought he'd be more stocky.  He is tall and lithe.

Hoka at 6 weeks-ish

Hoka at 6 months.

And here is the world's best doodle (don't listen Hoka).  He was pretty much exactly what we thought, lanky, laid-back and goofy.  As an adult, he looked like a carbon copy of his "uncles" we met at the breeders.

My late, great Tinker as a puppy... the one who started my doodle obsession.

at 1 year...

I never saw Tinker before, what a gorgeous doodle. How old was he when he passed away, Marie? Precious boy.

Tinker reminds me of one of Maserati's siblings! Very handsome.

With our girl - she is almost two - I have discovered repeatedly that what we saw the day we went to meet her, was absolutely what we got. Over the months she has morphed through phases, but she basically looks like a larger version of her puppy self. The proportions are the same and her overall look, demeanor, and coat are the same as well.  She just got bigger and ended up just where we thought she would.

I've been surprised continuously.
At 5 1/2 weeks I was sure I was getting more of a stocky retriever. Her coat was also very straight and thin.

Here she is at 9 weeks. The vet said she would probably shed and have quite the bedhead look. I was really liking the scrappy look.

At 3 months she still had the thin coat but was looking kind of lanky:

And here she is at 8 months: Looking very much a poodle.

Gorgeous girl!

Apparently I'm pretty good at predicting puppy/adult appearance - so far all the doodles of friends and families have been about what I'd expected.  Before I got my first doodle, Webster, I spent HOURS (more like days!), looking at puppy and adult pictures. I've kept in touch with many people who have gotten pups from Webster's breeder and I've gotten to see the pups as they grow.   You have to look past the color and the hair and this can be tricky!  Some doodles have a finer bone structure - they seem to grow up to be more willowy.  Some pups have a heavier bone structure and they tend to be a bigger built dog.  Also, the width of the forehead, placement of the ears and eyes, and length of the nose are good indicators of the adult look.

Hi Jennifer! Just for fun I'd like your feedback. I'm picking my F1B Standard Goldendoodle boy puppy. They are just over 5 weeks old, weigh about the same 5lb 14 oz.  Dad is goldendoodle apricot 60 lbs and mom is a red Standard poodle 45 lbs. I'm VERY interested in what you think of these 3 pups and any differences you see in their physical traits. I'd love to hear your predictions. I will attach 2 pics of each pup. (pup#1, pup #2, and pup#3) in order and then a group pic of all 3. Curious to see what you have to say about what they might look like as an adult. Thanks so much!!

Well, I'll do my best!  Actually, all three to me are similar - there is a definite consistency in the "look".  I don't see one that is way more retriever or way more poodle.  I think as adults the only noticeable difference will be the coat.

The first pup shows the most curl but I don't think he'll be very curly, more of a heavy wave/loose curl. He seems to have more of an oval face with his forehead not much wider than his nose.  He has a slightly more poodle look than his brothers.  My instinct tells me that he will be a lankier pup, but that may be masked by a curlier coat if you keep his coat long.

Pup #2 seems to have the least amount of curl.  Too me he has a broader forehead with more retriever ears.  His coat looks thinner and smoother - my guess is that he will have the silky/shaggy/wavy coat of many goldendoodles, probably won't have much of an undercoat.  He definitely has facial hair and will definitely be doodley.

Pup #3 seems to be a combination of 1&2.  His forehead seems broader than pup #1 but his seems more "oval" than pup #2 - kind of a cocker spaniel look - broader than poodle but less "blocky" than a retriever.  His coat looks fluffier than the others with more "ruffles" than either.  He may end up looking curlier because he has more hair. I'm guessing he will have a thicker coat and a little stockier than the others - but nothing noteworthy.

Honestly, I'm nit-picking the details because they are all very similar.  Each picture is a slightly different perspective so they look different from one to the other.  I think they are all beautiful and I wouldn't know how to choose. I might be completely wrong but pup 3 looks like he has bigger feet, then pup2, and pup 1 feet look smallest (comparing foot to leg).  Again this could be the perspective of the pictures!   Hairstyle makes such a difference, I prefer my "oval" shaped Charlotte to look more retriever-ish so I try to cut her hair "squarish".

Anyway - all beautiful, none of the 3 are one extreme or the other (poodle/retriever), I think all 3 will have a typical "doodle" look.  Keep us posted on what you decide!  And, as always,  ONLY my 2cents (some people think my opinions are even worth that- lol!).

Wow I loved reading your thoughts!! You are good!!! lol.... Ok, here are my thoughts. I really was set on getting the dark red #1, but he seems to have the smaller face, more poodle like w maybe a longer muzzle. I want a big old blockhead, and #3 seems to have more of that style of face. I love the way your Charlotte's face is. Everything from her head size, face shape, etc..and the hair on her face I like that too. I also like Webster's size head and proportions vs your Zoey's face that is more petite and poodle like. I agree with you, that pictures can be different based on perspective. My breeder send me some more with the 3 boys. I'm really falling for #3.  He weighs the most out of 11 pups. He is 5 weeks old and almost 6 lbs. I thought for weeks I would go with the dark red #1 but he looks to me like he could turn to be more of a thinner wiry coat and a smaller poodle type head and face.  I hope to get a dog that has alot of the hair on his face, nose, eyes like my profile pic. But I know, its not all about looks, it's personality and temperament that are most important. Also, if you compare the pics you already saw of them standing up profile shot, the red boy #1 doesn't appear to be much taller than #3. HOwever in the pics I'm about to attach he looks waaaay taller than #3. I don't know if its just the camera shot, position etc... bc number 3 is the biggest, but in the pics he looks like a little midget. LOL... I think #1 is sitting up real tall maybe and like i said the position of the camera. Well, take a look at these pics she just sent me and let me know what ya think.  I really like the eyes and face of #3 and the fact he is the stockiest. Do you think he will have facial hair closer to Charlotte's or Zoey's?  I like Charlottes look so much. Which do you see looking closer to her?  Again, thank you sooo much for helping me and giving your 2 cents. LOL....
