Labradoodle Needs New Home - in Fairfax, VA just posted on Craigslist

Here is the link.  I forwarded info for DRC, and made a few suggestions that I thought would help.  I thought maybe there would be someone here that might be interested.

Oh I hope some one helps this poor fellow! He is the spitting image of our Jake!

We already have 2 or I would take him in a heartbeat!

This is the 4th VA doodle I've seen posted on CL this week. What the heck is going on in VA?

Monty was from that area too Karen :( This sweet pup looks a lot like him

I hope he finds a great family. Posts like that break my heart.

Hi everyone,

I recently posted about losing my precious Bindi.  I come back to doodle kisses often and sometimes I smile and other times it's difficult.  Tonight when coming to the doodle kisses page..... the first thing I noticed was this post regarding the Fairfax family who is trying to find a home for their doodle.  I actually live in Fairfax, Virginia.  Even though I knew one day I would bring another doodle into my home, I hadn't planned to do it quite this soon.  I know I have so much love in my heart to give and thought it would be nice talking to the family.  As many questions as they would have for me, I too would have for them.  If they respond....it might just be a wonderful match.  I will update you later this weekend.

Hugs, Bren

Maybe this is "meant to be"....please keep us posted.

Yes and yes to what Jane said, Bren.

I so hope this all works out for you!!

Wow Bren, I guess you never know what the future might bring. Keeping fingers crossed for you.

This would be wonderful if it could be a match. Please keep us updated.

Bren, this might be a wonderful "meant to be" thing as the others have mentioned, and I hope it works out for you.

Some advice: Ask to have the dog's vet records faxed or emailed to your vet. You will need them anyway. Let your vet look them over before you make any decisions. Long experience with rescue and rehomed dogs has taught me that relinquishing owners are not always honest about a dog's health or behavioral issues. You want to make sure there is not an existing health issue that would be considered a "pre-existing" condition and not be covered on insurance. You also want to make sure the dog is UTD on HW testing and preventatives, as HW treatment costs about $1500 and is excruciatingly painful and difficult for the dog and the owners. (The fact that they mentioned it in the ad is a very good sign, but make sure.)

And ask where they got the dog to make sure they even have the legal right to transfer ownership. If they bought him from a reputable breeder, there is a usually a clause in the purchase agreement that they must notify the breeder before rehoming the dog. DRC often needs a release from the breeder to take a dog into the program, and the same is true with private adoption.

Good luck. :)
