Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
hi all,
I am trying to do my own grooming and I'm learning a lot.
Right now, I just have a plywood board on some saw horses. What do you use for a table? Do you think a table from Sam's club would work? 4 ' table
I have an Andis clipper and I was considering buying a clipper comb / set. I understand they are quite useful so i don't have to scizzor the entire coat. If I buy individual combs (is that possible?) what comb do I need for keeping the long flowing coat on my doodle? Is the larger the comb, the longer the cut? Is the larger the number the longer the cut? I tried to do a search for such a chart, but couldn't find one.
Any help on clipper combs info would be greatly appreciated :)
Thanks,
doc

There was a discussion not long ago regarding many of the questions you're asking about. Here's the link:

I use the Wahl stainless steel attachment combs on my Andis with a Wahl 30 blade. The longest you can go with those type of attachment combs, though, is about 1-2" using the longest comb (I forget the number or letter, but the longest of the set). I haven't seen them sold individually.
As for the table from Sam's Club, I'd be a little leery about that kind of table. It says it holds 300lbs evenly distributed. I guess you could give it a try and if it works, great. Otherwise you could return it. I use a grooming table I got from Petedge.com (their own brand) and its perfect for my use on the doodles.
ok. Won't try the table.
The Wahl combs on on the andis? I didn't know that!
Thanks

Oh, and to answer another of your questions, yes, the longer the comb, the longer the cut.
I've been using that type of table for 3 years now, Quincy is 70 lbs and we haven't had any issues.
