Older goldendoodle (6 year old)starting to shed

Hello.  My goldendoodle has never shed before this spring.  He is 6 years old.  Has anyone else experienced this before?  Could it because we had a colder winter this year?  We live in Virginia.

I would have have a health check done. This is not a normal occurrence.

I agree with Ro. Sudden hair loss at this age can be indicative of a health problem, possibly hormonal.

Possibly thyroid?  If you get that testing done, be sure to get a full panel.
