Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Thanks to you and to all that contribute to this site and the priceless information you provide. Because of your preferred list, I did my research and made the decision to switch Marley's kibble to Acana. I contacted their customer service today and they were incredible - they walked me through exactly what I should do and which recipe would be best to make the transition as easy as possible.
Marley has a history of a sensitive tummy and I am happy to say that first poop after first introduction was A-OK! :)
Thank you again!!

Thank you for the "Thank You" lol! (On Ally's behalf too, she's so busy she probably won't even see this. :)
I am so glad the Acana is agreeing with Marley and your experience with Champion's customer service was so good. They really are a great company. :)
I spoke too soon....we had a 2nd poop (which is not standard) and it was very soft. Hopefully she will adjust in a few days (fingers crossed!). Thanks again and have a beautiful night, all! :)
Well, darn! Which Acana formula did you switch to and from what?
Due to previous sensitivity issues, the Acana rep suggested the singles Pork & Squash and I should mix 10% of that with 90% current (don't yell LOL!) Taste of the Wild Bison & Venison. I may have been a little heavy handed with the 10% though and considering the fact that the serving size of the Acana is so much smaller than TOTW, perhaps the its the richness...? I won't give up! :)
I'm going to disagree with the Acana customer service agent. Those foods are so very different that I personally would go cold turkey. No more than 4 days at the most. You won't see the benefits of the LID food while it's being mixed with a complex food like the TOTW, with so many different ingredients and protein sources.
Will do, Karen. Thanks so very much!! I will keep you posted on the results.
Michelle, how is the transition going today?
OK, I think! We are 2 meals in of 100% Acana - poop has been firm. The only things I am noticing....food is taking longer to travel through her and also, it seems she is looking for more food (the serving size is a little smaller). Thank you so much for asking and all your help!
Yeah, you do feed less with the better quality grain free foods. You can add some canned "no sodium green beans" to her meals if you like, that adds bulk and satisfies them without adding calories.
you guys are incredible! I talk and reference this group so much that my boyfriend will always call me now to consult the recommended list before buying Roo any new treats at the pet store haha
