I guess that is our main issue, our County is pro spay/neuter and most dog parks and public places do not allow intact dogs. We never had a problem with kennels with Misha, our prior doodle, who remained intact throughout his life.

I was hoping to wait until Jazzy was a year to neuter, The risk of cancer worries me. Many facilities here will not day care or board if not neutered. I want to just have a hysterectomy done and keeps the ovaries. I do not know if that counts as neutering. It would not help the risk of cancer-is that right? I am still working so I need to use day care.

I mean spay.

In females, the risk of cancer is lower if you spay around 6 months old, before the first heat. Removing just the uterus and leaving the ovaries would not provide protection against cancer, only against pregnancy.
