Yae - I finally did it. After 35 years in the medical profession, and 18 years teaching this stuff - I finally retired and love staying home with my critters. I must admit, they appeared a bit confused when I was still home after breakfast! For the first week, they stuck right by my side, but after 3 weeks, they seem to be getting used to having me around all the time. Friends keep asking "what are you going to do with yourself?" My reply is "whatever I want!" It is SO nice not be have to be anyplace at a certain time. I just can't quite get the hand of sleeping late, though. My internal alarm still goes off at 5 am. Perhaps over time -----. Anyway, I LOVE retirement and HIGHLY recommend it.

Oh yeah! I have been retired for six years and my husband for eleven years. He says, "How did we ever have time to work?" because we have so many things we do. I love gardening and volunteer at two school gardens and the old mayor's house (built in 1876 and a huge garden). Also volunteer at the SPCA and DRC (had three rescue dogs in April), and take care of a couple of doodles from San Jose whose parents travel a lot. In my spare time, I swim and take classes at the local junior college (computers and art) and work out at the aerobics area at the gym.
You will love retirement. Congratulations. As long as your internal alarm is going off early, get up and do something you like, like read a book or cook something you have been wanting to try. I work on my computer. Here is an example of my little project this morning. I love to work on old photos and this is a photo of my SIL and six grandchildren.
Lynda - Not to worry. I have LOTS of projects that I've put off for the past several years. I am in the middle of reading several books that I've stacked and trying to finish a cross-stitched Christmas stocking for my son-in-law, just to name a few. Naturally, my doodles and dachshunds think that I should devote 100% of my time to them, though.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE being retired! Enjoy your ability to coordinate you days, I do.
