Not sure what to do about "grooming" Tucker? He is 12 weeks old now and we have a brush, and I have tried to brush him a few times now but he seems to think this brush is a toy that he is supposed to play with and take away from me with his mouth! He is not really curly or wavy but has more fur than a regular Lab puppy has and I am wondering if I should just be using a comb on him right now? And how the heck do you get your puppy used to this? He does not seem to be fan; should I try treats? If so how? I don't want to make this a traumatizing experience. Advice is greatly appreciated. While were at it does anyone have advice on giving a puppy a bath? I have absolutely no experience with it! LOL

We recently gave Callie her first bath, and the biggest suggestion I can give you is place a towel at the bottom of the tub before you fill it with water. She was freaked out about not having traction in the tub, and calmed down as soon as we did that. And we filled the water up to only about 3 or 4 inches and used a scoop to pour water over her back.

Thanks each and every one of you! I think I have gotten some really great advice and it is all really appreciated! I'll be sure to let you all know how it goes :)

Really great people here for sure!

Tucker is just adorable :)    My doodles thought the brush or comb was a toy as well.   I have a great brush that I love and give a quick brush daily.  Tucker is just a pup and will get use to all these new things that are happening to him.  When grooming my doodles I always give them a extra special treat :)   I would use what ever tool (brush/comb) keeps the mats away.  I went through lots of different kinds of brushes and combs and finally found what I like !!!   Good luck with that sweet boy :)

Having same problem. Brush or comb is biting me and squirming away-treats or no treats-getting frustrated.
