As Ragley and I have progressed in her training (next step- CGC!) and moved toward more distraction training and generalizing behaviors into all environments, I have noticed that our normal "training treat gumbo" that I have available is not of high enough value to interest her in the new settings (public parks, etc.). I consulted my trainer about it and she recommended 1. not undervaluing my praise- I think the Doggy Dan stuff should help with this! and 2. try to find a higher value treat that may be more appropriate for the more complex environment behaviors I am asking of her.
We usually use soft and chewy Buddy Biscuits broken into smaller pieces and hot dogs. She doesn't seem to have too much interest in cheese so that doesn't work for us.
I'm looking for that super-duper-awesome-gotta-have-it kind of treat. This is not for a generic I-love-you-so-much-here-have-a-treat situation.
Any crowd favorites that your doodles would do anything for?

Eloise loves the freeze-dried liver, too. This is not a drooly dog, but if she sees the container she actually starts salivating. Of course there's no treat high-value enough for her to help with consistent recall right now - so I'll be working my way through the Doggy Dan videos to help with that! I'm also starting to wonder if I could use a kleenex, lol. That seems to be the biggest prize of all.
Sounds like Primal freeze dried treats are a crowd favorite! That was one I was considering so I will be definitely trying those out! Thank you, everyone!
By far it's baked liver in this house. The ingredient list only has one thing listed-baked beef liver. My dogs would so ANYTHING for a morsel of this treat.
Where on the package does it say that they need to be refrigerated? I've been buying them for years, and have never refrigerated them. Yikes!
I use tiny pieces of chicken and steak. When we have leftovers I just cut them up really small and put them in a bag in the freezer. When we train recall outdoors I break out the good stuff.
