Am I growing a beard?

Hi Doodle Kisses!

We just brought home our second goldendoodle, Yogi, about a week ago. Yogi is a wonderful puppy, and we are in love.

He looks quite different than our first goldendoodle, Fozzie, did at his age, though. Yogi is an F1 and just under 9 weeks old. He's much more retriever-y. He's very fluffy and has straight, soft fur with longer wisps sprouting out over his body.

Over the last few days, we've noticed that he seems to be growing 'wings' around his cheeks. These hairs are very fine, and you can only really notice them close up. But, they appear to be growing in length. Is this the begining of a beard? Do you think he'll 'doodle out'?

I posted a similar message on 'Where is the Poodle in my Doodle?' group the other day but thought to post it on the broader message board, too. I'd greatly appreciate any feedback or insights! I've really enjoyed this site and have learned a lot.

I think it is hard to tell at such a young age.  He is a cutie for sure!

thank you! yogi is precious. he's a beautiful little boy for sure! we're just wondering if he's going to turn into a beautiful bearded doodle or not. any other opinions would be appreciated... and thank you!

He reminds me of my Hudson! Here's Hudson around 9 weeks old - he had those wings on his cheeks (they're still growing) and really straight, fuzzy hair.  

Now he's 14 weeks - he still has a lot of white longer hairs all over his body, but he's developing a darker, coarser stripe down his back. His hair is getting longer, but it's still very straight!

Callie is the same! Though the new darker fur coming in has a bit of a wave to it

Ditto - there's some wave in his stripe. It's not as soft, so I miss the puppy fuzz :(  Does Callie shed?

I had to laugh when I read the title.... I'm of German ancestry, and I'm in my menopausal years.... pretty sure I have asked my husband that same question!!  :-)

Seriously, though, your baby is such a cutie! The wisps are really adorable!
