Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I would like to hear about any other "firsts" your doodles may have had as puppies or as older pups.
Orwell had his first swim yesterday at the river. He was unsure of the waves lapping at the shore at first, so I got in the water. Orwell has to be by his momma at all times during unfamiliar sights and sounds, so he swam to me. He did not struggle to swim at all. I checked a few days prior and learned that he does indeed have webbed toes like a lab (and the same paw shape as a lab). His hair was so fun to watch floating in the water. When we got out, I could see the poodle body. Originally, I thought he was a bit stockier like a lab, but his hair really does a number for him. He looked so pathetic that it was cute. He is going to be tall and lean. Before I took him to the river, I weighed him at the vet. At 10 weeks, he is 16.7 lbs.
He did so much better on the car ride, too. I rolled down the windows a bit and let him occupy the back seat with my future brother-in-law. I got a couple of whines, but that's about it. On the way home he was so tuckered, he passed out.
Next summer, Orwell and I will be going to the river at least 3 times a week. I'm so glad I have someone to enjoy the water with.

Yeah...so much fun!
Kaitee - sounds like fun. Looking forward to seeing photos of Orwell.
I posted some on the "Orwell, Doodle Kisses. Doodle Kisses, Orwell" forum. Also you can check out my page for photos.
By the way, I love the coloring on your guys.
Firsts are so special - and often humorous. I am so glad Orwell loves water.
He is definitely a funny boy. He knows how to throw balls to himself already, plays with ice, pounces, and likes to squeeze in under the couch (for now, next week he probably won't be able to do it).
