What other dog breed matches well with a Goldendoodle?

Hello! My fiance and I want to get another dog. We have a 6 yr old Goldendoodle who of course is very lovable but we feel bad since we are moving out of my parents house, whom she would have constant attention from, and living on our own and we are afraid she may get lonely and depressed while we are at work. I could just be being very over protective but we would hate to see her happy self become sad. I was just wondering if anyone can give me any other breeds that will match well with a Goldendoodle. I was looking for something a little smaller than her but its not set in stone. =) thank you!

It's not that simple. I think, like us, it is an individual thing.   My dog has met doodles that HATED HIM.  He is attracted to the snorts of Pugs, yet a tiny Chihuahua scared him.  He has met dogs he really likes that just dont like him while others he would just ignore.

I dont know how to answer your question. Unfortunatley I am no help but I am certain there are many lonely dogs out there who would love to be with yo and your dog.  Maybe go to meet and greets held, usually on weekends, and meet a few of the shelter dogs. See how it goes.  Talk with the foster moms in person to get a better idea of this particular dog, etc.

Thank You!...Yes that is what I was thinking too...like it didnt depend on the breed just the personality of the dog. And your idea of a meet and greet is a great idea! Thank you for your response =)

PennyLove, you're welcome.  If and when, PLEASE let me know how this all turns out,   I see so many dogs, not doodles, I would love to be with.   Personality is KEY.

I agree with Joanne, but I met the sweetest little mini australian shepherd puppy yesterday. If you want something smaller that may be a good choice and the energy level would likely meet that of your goldendoodle. Papillons are also super smart and could keep up with your dog.

It's nice that your fiancee loves dogs. Mine also does and we're thinking about doing a breeding program down the line. (: Makes life so much easier if you have someone you can agree with.

You could get a mini Goldendoodle. I have 3 mini's. Doodles like to play together like no other breed I have seen. That doesn't mean there aren't awesome dogs of other breeds, I just know that at the dog park, the Doodles seem to be drawn to each other and have similar ways of playing.

What about a smaller doodle? I have a mini/medium goldendoodle. He loves playing with other mini and standard doodles too. Also I agree with a meet and greet to see how any breed will do with your older goldendoodle. It my be a personality thing more than breed.

Yes a nother doodle <3... I'm sure this is going to be a tough choice. I may just have my fiance choose, because he is a lot more disciplined than me...I would probably come home with 15 dogs lol.
