My breeder contacted me and said she is retiring Stew's mom after 1 more litter. She won't be bred this coming year but will be bred late Summer 2015 with the litter ready Fall 2016. At that point Stew will be just 3 years old and I think it'll be great that he'll be out of the two puppy years.

She reimburses part of the neutering cost and hadn't done that for me yet, I keep forgetting to send the invoice, so she's just going to apply that money to my deposit. If I change my mind, I can just get the money as a reimbursement for neutering.

The breeding pair is the pair I wanted all along but I didn't want to wait until this year, so I'm actually excited that I'll get one of the last litter! The puppies from her current litter are ready to go next weekend and they are ADORABLE so I can only hope the next litter they are just as good looking!

I'm not sure if I'll keep the puppy or if my mom will take the puppy as she loves Stew but it'll still be in the family! I asked to be reserved for a female and this time around I want the completely mellow, easy puppy LOL!

Congrats, Stew!

As soon as I finalized it with the breeder, I kept saying "Stew, you want a buddy? You want a buddy? You can play and play and leave Mom alone during her TV shows!" He wiggled, wagged his tail and then gave a few barks. I think that's a YES! LOL!

Congratulations on making your decision.  I think the timing will be perfect for you and Stew.

Thanks Nancy, I wasn't certain until I knew it was the last litter of the breeding pair. Part of me was bummed that for Stew's litter she used a stud instead of the dog she owned.

Other dogs in other litters from the stud have guarding issues as well so I'm beginning to think it was the stud. My breeder only used the stud a few times & is now back to using the dog she owned for her mini litters. I'm assuming because of stud fees but it's frustrating to think that Stew got that trait from the stud.

Of course I love Stew but his guarding is so taxing sometimes.

Yeeee... puppy pictures incoming in a year. Can you get permission to show the current litter here? Or message me... I love looking at baby puppies.

I'm on my iPad, but here are my favorites from the current litter!

I think the male is just adorable & he'd be my pick! I love the more retriever look & the longer muzzle. I'm open to gender & think another boy would be cool but I've heard to get opposite genders for the "pack".

Wow, that's a long wait, but sure seems worth it!  Congrats

Congrats! :) so fun adding to the family!
Jenn- How is it with your 4 boys? Any trouble with dominance? I've always heard to get opposite genders but I know many on DK have same sex pairs with no issues. I tend to gravitate towards the males from the breeder. It all depends on personality but if one of males is a mellow, easy going pup, I'll pick that one. I think I'm first pick again since I reserved so early which is neat. That way I can really see how Stew interacts with them & judge off that too.
