What do you love and hate about where you live?

I'm having wanderlust lately. Lol! We live in New Mexico and have all our lives. I long for actual weather not sun all time. Not slot of variation. Why do you love or hate where you live? I need to live vicariously through all of you right now.
For me, love: the fact that we have no humidity ever and the fall when the sunny days cool off. Hate: constant sunshine, no variation. No snow, not a lot of rain or clouds.

I'm in South Jersey, from NY originally.  Went to college in Ohio and lived for a year in the Eastern Townships area of Canada.  I'm not a big fan of the Governor, either, and the property taxes are out of control.  But I still have family in NY so don't want to move at this point.  I love being near the beach, but love to ski and would also enjoy living near the mountains!

Northeast Georgia: I love it here because it's rural, pretty laid back and there is a lot of nice weather even though we have 4 distinct seasons. Today it's 72 degrees and just perfect. I live on a large lake and love kayaking and boating. I came here after 25 years in Phoenix. I could never live there again...way too hot for me.

We lived in Albuquerque for over 35 years and loved the climate!  We must have been closer to the Sandia Mountains than you are, Jenn, because we got snow often in the winter!  However the sun was always shinning and I loved it!!! Loved the dry air and wonderful seasons!

Then we moved to south Florida.....great winters!!!  BUT...unbearable summer heat and humidity and hurricanes.     Got to the point where we couldn't stand the summers so we moved to Indiana after 6 years.

Have been in Evansville, Indiana for 5 years now.   Love the spring with everything awakening...leaves popping out...the perennials coming up....grass is renewed....birds nesting and singing!   Summer is nice....so far we have not had the horrible humidity that locals talk about, but we are comparing it to Florida humidity!  We are in the woods so it is wonderful to watch the wildlife and the new babies arriving in summer.  Fall is beautiful with the leaves changing and the crispness in the air.  Only downfall  is the amount of work involved in rounding up all those leaves when they fall!  Then comes winter!  We were told winter would be mild because the city is on the Ohio River.  So far that is untrue and we have gotten to the point where we hate to be really cold!  

So we started being snowbirds and spending winters in Florida.  Now we have it all.  (I still miss the blue sky and sunshine of New Mexico though!!)

What can I say about Ireland...it is very very far from all of you for a start Lol. The weather is generally mild with lots of rain (which I hate) but we don't get storms, hurricanes or really awful prolonged snow (generally) so I really can't complain. It is a small Island really with a population of 4.5 million. I live in a small historical university town about 25 minutes from the centre. One hour from the Sea and one hour to the mountains. I live in a semi-rural part of the country but nevertheless in my little town we have about 20 restaurants and coffee shops, three supermarkets, several beauty parlours and hairdressers, a hotel, a world famous golf course...these are all a walk away. You feel like every body knows everyone else here though they don't and they are very witty. For example as I queued in the supermarket yesterday the woman behind me took a look at my shopping (lots of fruit and veg) and remarked 'well I can see you won't be giving the doctors any money any time soon'. That's the kind of remark strangers will quite happily make on a daily basis.  The West of Ireland and in fact the whole country is very beautiful and scenic with winding roads and little towns. The coastal towns are particularly wonderful.  My grandparents arrived here in the late 1800's from Lithuania escaping the pogroms against the Jews. They thought they were going to America but were dropped off in Cork...(that's the story anyway) :)

I want to live in Ireland, Nicky.  It sounds lovely and the photos I've seen of it show it to have such beautiful light and it is so green.

I love Ireland so much, Nicky.  We've been twice and had such an amazing time.  The country is so incredibly beautiful.  I remember flying in the first time and seeing that green....it took my breath away.  I also remember how friendly the Irish people were.  We went to little pubs all along the coast and people would be happy to talk with us and share a "pint".  We will go back again soon.

I LOVE Ireland. My parents were born in Kerry and Mayo, moved to Chicago in the late 50s.  I just came back from a trip to visit the halves of the families still there.  My favorite places are any of the wide flat beaches on the west coast, and the bog.

I live in southern California (inland) and it gets really hot and smoggy in the summers. Coastal California is gorgeous but more temperate so not much seasonal change, and I am fine with that. We have such traffic in Southern California - constant traffic.  It can take you 20 minutes to go a few miles during rush hour which has become just about 24/7.

You are welcome to our house - for a visit or to stay.  We love it here but wanted to move to Oregon.  My mom is here and 98 years old, so that is my real incentive for staying - other than the perfect climate, a beautiful home, and lots of things to do here - biking, swimming, pottery, gardening, etc.
