Somebody posted a way they do it either here or on Facebook. I finally found a store that sells chicken feet, but now I need to know how to dehydrate them correctly. Any ideas?

Good tip about the smell! I make fish cookies and the whole family complains. :) That looks like a lot of duck feet!
You guys are good dog owners. Those duck feet gross me out, lol.
Keep us posted on "side effects". :)
I have seen babies in Chinatown (San Francisco) chewing on them. I think they are kind of a pacifier or a teething item. They looked just like these.
Hello
I just prepared a batch of dried duck feet. Had them in the dehydrator for 12 hours and then the oven (200 degree) for an hour. They seem crisp but oily. Are they suppose to be oily? I know duck is an oily meat. How should I store them?
Thanks!
Lynn
Lynn, as mentioned in the recipe posted on the first page of this discussion, you can store them in dry (uncooked) white rice. It supposedly helps keep them crispy and I'd think it would help absorb some of the oil as well.
Yes, mine were oily as well. But I dehydrated them over 24 hours and more then an hour in the oven afterwards.
The original recipe also said dehydrate for 24 hours, so 12 hours might not be enough. I had them in the dehydrator for over 24 hours just because I was not sure about the oil.
But happy to report that the boys LOVE them! And there were no side-effects or any other unpleasant "outcomes", so it seems that they are digesting them just fine.
I agree, 12 hours was probably not enough to get them good and dry.
Thanks for the response. They looked too well done (except being oily) that is why I pulled them out after about 12 hours. I did bake them after I pulled them out of the dehydrator. I have them stored in the dry rice and the dogs love them. They are very crispy. I reviewed many articles online about the cooking process and every one said 8-14 hours of drying time. Next time I will leave them in longer. Thanks again!
Thanks everyone. The doodles are loving the duck feet. Next time I will leave them in longer ~ the feet are very crispy. I do have them stored in the dry rice ~ around here they won't last too long.
