Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I have twice. Once was our 18 year old mixed springer spaniel. She was in pain and running around. That is when we knew it was time. The other was yesterday. Kate, nine month old labradoodle, decided to chew on electrical cord. Couldn't tell if she ate any. She also had unseasonable ticks on her. Anyway, she threw up her breakfast then continued to try to throw up. When my husband took her to the Emergency Vet our puggle whined. When he came back at night without her - he cried. She is now at our regular vets. She was on IV. She eliminated and wagged her tail. Please, please by OK.

My daughter-in-law's mother has a system I can try. I'm thinking if I can control Kate, Finn will stay nearby. The problem is to find someone to put the flags up and teach Kate the boundaries. With my husband working full time and his dad in a home and his mom dealing with that there is little time left. Fortunately, he was able to take the day off today to get Kate from Emergency to our regular doctor. She seems great tonight. She was trying to find something to eat. We fed her a little twice. It is going to be hard to sleep worrying about what she is going to get into. She looks great but smells like a kennel. Such a wonderfully mellow dog.
After spending the night at the Emergency clinic Kate went to our vet. There is a new vet at the clinic. He reviewed the X-rays, gave her antibiotics and kept her most of the day. The fee was $6.50 - just for the medicine. He said it was professional courtesy. : )
OK, our Vet put Kate on Metronidazole for gastritis. We give it to her with cheese which she loves. She had two small meals yesterday when she got home. She is not interested in eating at all this morning. Not even cheese. Tried to entice her with a little yogurt but she is not interested. So is it the meds? Is she not over whatever caused this? I am making chicken stock with just a little salt in it to try to keep her hydrated. I will call the vet if this doesn't work. I thought we were out of the woods......
Maybe she is not hungry. She was looking for food yesterday.
OK, Kate likes her chicken soup for the soul. She is eating again. I'm trying to go slow. Randy gave her a bath so she smell a lot better. I took chicken legs, carrots and some salt and boiled until really tender. I added some rice and she is eating ok. I added a little kibble because I noticed the other day when she got sick the kibble was 10x it's regular size. One recommendation is that you add liquid before feeding.
Also, my new daughter's mom brought me an electronic wireless fence!!!!
Looks like you and Kate are loved! Hoping for a very speedy recovery!!! Hugs!
So glad to hear that Kate is doing well! Hooray for the electric fence, too. :-) You'll have to let us know how that goes.
