We had a week of cold weather the first week of January (low thirties) and had to cover the plants on the decks. We called it three-dog nights and two-fire days. It is back to the seventies this week and more than welcome. I need to cut back many plants (hydrangeas, bird of paradise, and succulents) and all my bulbs are in the ground now. Ready for spring and it is only January.

It was a nice balmy 0 when Annie and I got up this morning, and with the wind chill it was -10. We will definitely have a fire going tonight while watching our tv shows. I always say I don't thaw out until June. We can still have some cold weather in May. So ready for Summer. If it wasn't for the grandkids we would move somewhere warmer.
Oh cold here too Stella! Due to the cold weather warning we are playing hallway ball inside today. Bad timing for a hair cut too! Funny it is bright and sunny and looks nice, but...
OMD! A hundred degree difference! We were 77 the last two days and had a wonderful day yesterday at Ft. Ord. Lots of horses, bikes, dogs, joggers, and hikers out. I actually took my dogs on two walks yesterday for a total of two hours. They are loving this weather. It is supposed to continue this week and then back to normal next week. Hang in there. There are some good things about the cold weather.
Today I have to get outside and do some trimming back on the plants that had a hard time with the cold weather. The hydrangea and bird of paradise need to be cut back drastically. But my bulbs are all up in front of the house. If we get more cold weather, it may really confuse the plants. We shall see.
