Finally!  Going to get a discussion started with good (and safe) dog treats!

As a reminder, any treats made from a company listed in our Recommended Foods list will work, so I am not going to list them here. Visit this link for those brands:  http://www.doodlekisses.com/group/thefoodgroup/forum/topics/recomme...

Thank you, Ally!

has anyone found a duck strip jerky treat that's safe. my moms golden loved loved loved the vitalife duck strips. once we found out where the product was sourced we stopped giving them to her. we have yet to find a treat she goes crazy for. she doesn't like crunchy cookies or biscuits. and she is allergic to many things. chicken. white potatoes. pork. to name a few.

Plato makes a few different duck treats.

Thank you for this list of suggestions.  Our doodle Kenzie loves Stella and Chewy's treats as well as Orijen dog treats.

Hi.  Looking for dog bones for our 7 month labradoodle at reasonable prices.  He loves the Himalayan (expensive)  - this list is pretty overwhelming.  Can anyone suggest a few good sites and some recommended bones? (I know rawhide is not recommended...) THANKS in advance.

My Dahlia LOVES Grandma Lucy's freeze dried sweet potato's and her pumpkin cookies. Humans can even eat them!

I have not been on here in a while so I am sure it has been said but Chewy.com is selling Cloud Star products again!

Which are the favorite/best Etta Says treats?  Any preferences?

I found these new treats at the grocery store that caught my attention, they appear to be of good quality but I know things can sometimes be deceiving.  They are made by "Isle of Dogs" iodogs.com  - the variety I  bought was "Smile" - claims 100% USA sourced ingredients.  There were on sale for $3.99 for a pretty decent sized box (12oz) - which is a pretty good price, I bought them but I didn't give to Luna yet.  What do you guys think?

Ingredients are:

oat flour, rice flour, cane molasses, flaxseed, whole rolled oats, canola, oil (preserved with mixed tocopherols), apples, dried kept, brewers dried yeast, parsley, yucca schidigera extract.

I had a lot of trouble finding info on the website about the treats; it seems this company's main focus is grooming products. I did not see the info about the ingredients being 100% USA sourced, but going on that premise, they seem safe enough.

However, there's really nothing beneficial in these treats for dogs. They won't cause any harm, unless your dog happens to be sensitive to grains, but there's also nothing here that will benefit your dog. The price is low because the ingredients are inexpensive. I know treats are just that, something with which to "treat" or reward your dog, but I prefer to have those calories count for something or provide some necessary nutrient. These are basically starch and sugar, just carbs. So don't be afraid to use them if you already bought them, but they aren't the best choice of treat IMO.

Regarding the "Get Naked" treats.  The website listed has more than the Get Naked brand.  Which is recommended from the Get Naked line and are any recommended from the other brands like N-bone, etc?  The company wants to know which kind of treat we want/was recommended on our site.

We recommend brands, based on the sourcing of ingredients, the ingredients themselves, and the company's reliability in general. if there is anything in any of a company's products that doesn't meet our criteria, we don't recommend anything at all from that company, even if they make some products that are okay. (In other words, if a company thinks it's okay to put menadione in their cheaper lines but not in their "premium" lines,, we don't recommend that company at all. Some products within any recommended line may be "better" or "worse" for any individual dog, so our lists don't make specific recommendations of a certain particular treat or formula within a line. That kind of recommendation is made in individual discussions.

Long story short, any treat from any company on the list is safe. Whether it's a good treat or food for your individual dog, we can't say. Some dogs can't eat chicken; some can't eat grains. Some like one kind of treat better than another.

All that said, if I had realized that the same company makes the Get Naked treats as the N-Bone treats, I probably wouldn't have recommended any of them, because some of those N-Bones contain some nasty stuff. I'm not thrilled with the Twistix, either. I may have to go back and look at this company again.

But since you're already "negotiating" with them, the N-Bones sweet potato treats look okay.
