It has been so easy to go for walks these last few weeks with 60 and 70 degree weather here. Today I took the boys on a 2 & 1/2 hr. walk with Harpo on leash (because of poison oak) and Zeppo off leash. Zeppo picked up 8 ticks on the walk even though they are on tick meds. He was all over the place, in the bushes, through the ditches, up the hills, around the trees. I sure hope we got them all. Another check before bed tonight.

Sounds like you and the dogs had fun.
Thanks for posting this. I have been missing California so much this month--I needed reminders of poison oak and ticks, whew, there are a few things I don't miss about my beloved state. Enjoy the weather, it sounds beautiful.
Except for the ticks, sounds great!
And that is even with them taking tick medications. The medication only works when the ticks bite the dog. Then they die.
Agreed!
Perfect.....wish we had 70 degree weather here. It's so difficult to give them the real fun walks in the dead of a New England Winter. Your post makes me long for Spring.
It will be here! Hang in there. We long for some rain here in California.
Green with envy :) So cold here.
Your walk sounds like fun for all! I was so glad to see CA get some rain, but the flooding was so sad. In eastern Washington we are experiencing an extremely mild winter. Today we are getting a little much needed rain. I often lament the fact we live east of the mountains, but I do not miss the fleas, ticks and sunless days in the Seattle area!
No flooding around here but the December rain did green things up. Now we just need some more of it.
I'm in Canada and it's brrr here but we still walk three to five miles a day. Max loves the cold. I have a canada goose knock off coat and it is so warm I hardly ever feel any cold at all, it has to be pretty bitter. I love that the hood comes up so far it blocks out most wind too. I actually enjoy walking in the cold because 1. There are no other people walking lol. 2. No ticks. 3. Max usually won't go into the stinky ditch water. 4. The dead things he finds are usually frozen solid so he doesn't eat them. (Though he did carry a dead bird in his mouth for quite awhile the other day, but eventually dropped it, yay!) So as much as I love summer, winter walking is pretty great too.
