Labradoodle at pet store

No one apparently wants a four month old, tall, labradoodle at fancypuppy in corona. They have dropped the price and will probably take anything. We have two already, but I thought if someone wanted the fellow in the Southern California area it might be worth a look. I just feel sorry for the guy and I already have two. Here is the email. Apparently, they also give a ten year health warranty....not sure what that means.

Poor puppy mill doodle, he looks the way I imagine JD looked when he was in the pet store. And he probably has the same kinds of serious health issues. 

I just read the fine print on the health warranty. Covers practically nothing. 

If they will take "practically anything", I wonder if they will release him to rescue.

Here's the email response I got from them:

Hello Karen so he is 28.7 pounds at the moment and because of a sale we are having he is only 850$ with a 10 year health guarantee he is vet checked x3 , dewormed , micro chipped with amber alert system and he is up to date on all vaccinations.

$850, and a lifetime of heartbreak. 

Talk about your emotional blackmail.

At 10: 35 I shall call and ask them if they would turn him over to rescue. They are remodeling the store and really want to sell him, but maybe they will think about the dog instead of the bottom line.....

I doubt it, Al. If they thought about the dogs, they wouldn't be in the business they're in. They paid a broker for him, they need to get that back. 

Honestly, the best thing is never to go into a pet store. It's nothing but heartache.

This is the latest:

"Well we are trying to get a non profit adoption agency to work with our store for times like these but sense we have protesters that believe all dogs should be rescued no one will help us so I think he will just keep getting discounted untill he sells now if he stays for another month or more maybe the owner will consider it but I doubt it with how old he is right now. "

I told him to keep my email on file in case it goes in this direction. Sad.

Anti Puppy Mill Groups have been picketing the store, not because they "believe all dogs should be rescued", but because like all dog lovers, they are opposed to puppy mills.

It's such a sad fate for the dogs already in the system.
But bringing awareness to the public will eventually ward people from purchasing dogs from pet stores. I think it is already happening.

A lot of the chain pet stores in my area don't have dogs for sale anymore, but sponsor adoption events on the weekend. I think if the public puts pressure on the businesses that this is a bad thing, the pet stores will have to comply if only to avoid a negative image.

This is so sad.  It's not his fault.

I haven't seen a dog or cat for sale in a pet shop in Virginia in 10 or 15 years.  Don't know if there is a law or not.  Pet stores here only have dogs and cats brought by rescues for adoption

Why do I remember California outlawing the sale of puppies in pet stores?   I know most states have or are trying to outlaw.

This is sad.

I hope more keep picketing this store and they never sell again.

Most laws regarding the sale of puppies in pet stores are at a municipal level, not at the state level. So there may be many towns in CA that don't permit it, but many others that do. You find this in most states. 

In my area, many pet stores that sell puppies have closed in various towns where laws have been passed; but there are many other towns where branches of those same chain pet stores are doing a brisk business.

Some towns have laws that the store must provide information on where the puppy came from, as if to show that they are from "breeders" and not from puppy mills. Dumb. The mills don't call themselves mills, they call themselves "Scumbag's Farm" or just use their names; "John and Mary Scumbag".
