Puppy got his first dose of Trifexis yesterday with dinner at 5pm. This morning at 4am when I took him out to potty before leaving for work, he peed and pooped. After he pooped, he wretched and threw up a small amount of bile. He wretched a second time and got up some more bile. He was not lethargic or anything like that. He was his normal self with the exception of the throwing up. My husband is a pharmacist and he says it is a side effect of the Trifexis. I did read that in young puppies, there is a high chance of vomiting. My question is has anyone else using Trifexis with puppies, experienced this with their first or subsequent dose(s) and what was your experience. Did it resolve? Did it turn into something worse?

Thanks.

My pup never had a problem with it. I made sure he had a little kibble in his stomach a few hours after having it. And I usually gave it to him during the day. I don't know if that makes the difference. But I also read that a dog may also throw up bile if he wakes up hungry with an empty stomach. I don't give it to my pup any longer as he is 18 months old and has quit eating everything he sees. Good luck! By the way, cute little pup you have there!
Thanks :)

Hi, Trifexis is very controversial.  Google it or read previous discussions here.  I won't give it to my goldendoodle.

24 hours later, I am happy to report that Ace is great. Since that one bout of vomiting yesterday morning, he's been fine. He's been eating, peeing, pooping, jumping, nipping etc. as he normally does. No more bouts of vomiting. I am a bit paranoid and am keeping a close eye on him. :-)
