Well, I'm happy to prove information, guidance and support if you want to pursue a diagnosis of Atopy. It's just that the A.D. support group is probably not going to provide those things. I'll go ahead and approve your membership so that you can access the discussions there and possibly get some info on the treatments that other dogs are on. But basically, the only way you can know if Ace has Atopy is to consult a dermatology specialist. Most of them will not do testing until the dog is a year old, but you can get an opinion and perhaps some things to try in the meantime.
Hi Sosa,
The Atopic Dermatitis Support Group is for dogs who have already been diagnosed with the disease by a veterinary dermatology specialist. It's not an informational group, it's meant as a place where those of us with dogs who have inhalant/seasonal/environmental allergies can discuss treatments, and get support. Ace is simply too young to have Atopy, (it most commonly shows up between 1-3 years of age) because it takes time and repeated exposure for the body to develop an immune response (antibody) to an allergen. But if you are looking for information because you think he might have allergies, there is lots of info about that in the Health group. Here's a couple of discussions that might help: http://www.doodlekisses.com/group/healthandmedicalissues/forum/topics/some-basic-facts-about

Please keep in mind that general practice vets are not well versed in immunology or allergies, just as your primary care physician is not.
Sosa ~ I see you live in Seattle. I lived there for years and then we moved east of the mts. to Richland, WA. Your new little puppy looks so cute. Is he from a Washington breeder. We got both of our doodles at Manor Lakes up by Bellingham. Welcome to Doodle Kisses!
Thank you for your sweet message and welcome to DK!
