Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hello, was wondering if anyone could shed some light on expected weight for our standard doodle. We were told she should be between 40-45lbs as her parents were small. Here are the weights so far:

3 months - 11.8lbs

4 months - 22.2lbs

5 months - 36.2lbs

6 months - 45 lbs and still growing!

Any help or comparison's to your goldendoodle would be appreciated!

Breeder estimates of weight are often wildly wrong, especially with the earlier generation doodles. The parents may be smaller, but there are large dogs (Goldens, Labs, Standard Poodles) not too far back in the pedigree, and with genetics, bigger is often dominant over smaller.

Using the "weight at 4 months X two and add 5 to 10 lbs" formula, your doodle's expected adult weight would be 50-55 lbs, but that's by no means a sure thing.

Thanks for the info! Yeah seems way off since she's already 45lbs! Still such an angel and we will love her no matter her size. :)

Loki's parents were 65lbs and 55lbs and at just shy of a year, he is 75lbs. So I know what you mean! But Karen's formula holds true for him because at 4 months he was somewhere between 30-40lbs. I do have to say he did most of his growing by the time he was 7 months old(65lbs) so your cutie might be ending her growth spurt! Either way she is super cute!

The formula that Karen gave you was bang on for Myla - at 16 weeks she was 30  pounds and at one year she was 63 pounds and has remained at that weight, give or take a couple of pounds.  She will be three this month.  A lot of doodles on the website used this calculation and it seemed to be pretty accurate.  I could not wait to weigh Myla at 16 weeks because of this as I really wanted to get a good idea of how big she would get!
