I get my F1 Goldendoodle on Sunday and I'm worried her coat will not be doodly. I know this is the million dollar question but what are some signs to look for?

Can you post some photos of her?

Based on my experience thus far, I would have to say only time will tell. Up until about 4 weeks, my doodle looked very doodly. Now I'm wondering if he will end up looking like a doodle, At about week five, he took on a more retreiver appearance, at least in the face. I've seen some crazy transformations of doodles who did not look so doodly, end up with all of the characteristic traits of a doodle. I've accepted that our puppy's ultimate look will be a mystery we'll have to watch unfold. (you can see Ace's transformation in my pics.)
Unfortunately the best picture I have of her is my profile pic. The breeder hasn't sent me one that shows her that well since I chose her.

How about on the breeder's website?

She only has a Facebook page at this time and it seems newer so that's not much help either. I guess time will tell

Tiffany,  our Elsa is an F1b Goldendoodle--she looked very doodly for her first few months, and now she looks like a mini Golden Retriever!

At first I thought we were deceived by the breeder, and may still have been, but there's no way we would ever send Elsa away.  She sheds like CRAZY, and my daughter says she looks nothing like a doodle.  My answer to her was when we were expecting her, we hoped for a blue eyes blonde, and got a red head.  Kept her anyway!  hahahah

I had visions of a ball of curls, and it's not gonna happen.  On the other hand, many here did have their golden ultimately doodle out.  I went through exactly what you are doing.  Now it doesn't matter!

Enjoy that little blessing!  I have to vacuum now :).

This is such a wonderful answer, Peggy!

Love that answer! Lol!

Thank you Peggy. That was a wonderful answer! Initially what drew me to the breed was their overload of cuteness then I started reading about them and realized there was so much more to love. I know you are right and I will love her regardless of what she looks like. It's just tough when you pay so much money thinking you are getting one thing and end up with another.

One of the things you might look for are facial furnishings. Doodles who have these don't usually lose them.  I suggest that you got to this group and look at the puppy and adult pics.  http://www.doodlekisses.com/group/puptoadult

Hi Tiffany and all,  it WAS disappointing to me when I realized Elsa was not going to look anything like the photos shown on her breeder's web-site.  My shallow self would brush her hair forward around her face in an attempt to doodle her out--didn't work.  I am embarrassed to see it briefly became an obsession with me  :/.  I had even considered testing her DNA.

Elsa will be one year old this week, and I can say I love how she looks--still don't like the shedding!  Yep, she was expensive but worth every penny. Tiffany, your puppy is a doll--she's precious!
