Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I thought my goldendoodle's tail would be more like a flag - kind of like a golden retriever or a lab. But she holds it high over her back in a curl - almost like a papillon. Is that what poodle's tails do? Or is she learning it from her papillon sister? (just kidding) When I stretch her tail out it has a very distinct curve to it and it boings back up over her back as soon as I let go! Obviously this isn't a problem, just a curious observation.

I just love this girl! And as the puppy chewies just barely start to fade and I can walk around the house without dragging her along hanging off my pant leg, I find that I love her more and more every day!

My doodles tail curls up and had longer wavy hair on it so it looks like he has another head on his butt lol

When you start a conversation like this, how can you not include a picture, lol!   I love doodle tails.  I've had three, with three different types of tail.  Now, I'll include pics.

This was our Sophie girl.  I always thought she had such a pretty tail but it was very different than her litter mate Sister Lucy's tail.

This is Miss Lucy (Black) and her tail is usually pretty straight.  It occasionally curls up, but usually either fairly straight or tucked between her legs as she is running from her Sister trying to bite it.

This was our first foster boy Topper.  I was totally and completely in love with his question mark tail.  I think I probably even wrote a discussion about it at some point.

Now I have my very own Question Mark tail girl.  Miss AnnaBelle.

Beautiful photos! I would love to send pictures, but between the fact that I'm the world's worst photographer and Katie is a black doodle, all my pictures come out looking like a big black blob with no eyes. She's so beautiful in person and I'm ashamed of my pictures!!

Lol, obviously having a black doodle I understand that all too well.

Oh Stacy, I have exactly the same trouble!

That's exactly what I found with my last doodle, Zak.  She was black and all of my pictures did not do her justice - she was so much prettier than the camera could capture!!!!

Love seeing your doodle tails! Those question marks are so cute!

Stacy, Thanks for starting this thread. It's really fun to see the differences. Both of our doodles have/had the saber tail. But Kona had a tumor in his so it had to be amputated. It made us so sad to see him with a cropped tail at first, but now we just love it! It has its own little wiggle that the long tail doesn't have.

That type of tail is called a teapot tail - no reason why.  I have met quite a few doodles who have that type of tail.  I know Bichon's have that type of tail.  My doodles both have saber tails but many of the ones I see at the romps have the curl-over-the-back one.

Casey has a long, flowing, always wagging tail that looks like a Golden Retrivers tail. Cody, on the other hand has a tail that curls up way over his back. Will try to get pictures and post, but, I too have the "black dog" photo problems.
3 curling tails and one saber tail here ....and lots of wagging! Lol!
I have an F1 LD who has the lab sabre tail, I love it! His tail is so thick and his natural tail carriage is just below horizontal. My multi-gen LD is somewhere between the two, it doesn't curl totally over his back but he has a very high tail carriage, it is always up in the air. When he is wagging it and it hits your leg it is like being whipped - it hurts!!
