Rubarb?

Rhubarb it is! The lone survivor is tough.

That was my guess too. Amazing!

I have never eaten rhubarb.

I'm not a big fan.

I love it and it is very easy to make in the microwave era. However it can cause the runs :) never eat the leaves, they are toxic due to oxalis acid.

We had a huge patch of it on the farm when I was growing up. My parents told me to never go near it because it was poison! But then I would see my mom making pie out of it????? Perhaps that has something to do with my not liking it. :)

That would do it all right. I remember being terrified of a man eating plant at the Botanical Garden.

Our garden wintered over this year-swiss chard, kale, collard and carrots. We won't have anything emerge until we replant now. Snapdragons and pansies are blooming. :)

Ours overwintered kale, collards, spinach, all of which are starting to grow, and garlic for late June harvest.

With the warm weather we've had lately much of ours is going to seed. I keep pinching the tops off but...

My boss asked me to make him a rhubarb pie for his birthday, actually a Strawberry Rhubarb pie. I could not believe how expensive the rhubarb was.

When I was a kid we had a Peach Orchard, a Grape Vine and Rhubarb. I never went in to eat, I had it all in the yard. I never got the runs F, maybe because i ate it daily, raw, right out of the garden. I remember it was sour.
