Collars (well really dog tags)

I don't know if anyone else here is as big a fan of Etsy as I am, but they have some really really cute collars. And some of the shops are doing engraved buckles where you can put the dog's name and phone number. 

I hate jingly tags. And I'm not a huge fan of dangly tags, even when they're quiet - for no specific reason except that I don't love them. I have Katie's rabies tag on my keys so she doesn't have to wear it. 

So for us, the engraved buckle is a great option, but it always significantly increases the cost of the collar and thus limits her wardrobe options. In my head, I'm thinking of something like the metal tags that are riveted to the collar, but removeable so I could put it on different collars. But it would have to be something that didn't add a lot of bulk to the collar, and I don't think velcro would be secure enough. 

I can't really imagine a situation where Katie would get lost. I'm pretty darn careful and paranoid about that, but being paranoid about that sort of thing, I don't think I can ever be too careful. She's also microchipped and all the info is up to date, but losing her is one of my worst nightmares!

Any thoughts?

Oh wow, I really like the way these look! We live right by water so this would be great. Did you find that the color held up well? Or did it look dirty after going in the water?

We haven't gotten really down and dirty with it yet, but the color has not faded in the sun or anything. The material is such that I suspect when it gets mud or something, you can just wipe it off and it's good as new. 

I just got it last week and we've only done sprinkler games. Starting June we're going to go to the river a lot, so we'll see how it stands up to that. It's nice and thick and not flimsy at all... almost like having a leather collar but having it be waterproof. I'm very satisfied with it and it shipped relatively fast considering the amount of inscription work I had done.

I just wanted to update this really quick. I got my boomerang tag - the one that they recommend for collars with snap buckles. It looks great! It has her name, my name, my phone number and address. There's not room for all of that on the engraved buckles! And it will easily switch from one collar to the next. 

On another note, there's an etsy shop called katiesk9kollars that is having a 50% off sale and I just ordered Katie 2 more collars and a leash. I'm out of control! (No financial interest here, the lady's dog is also Katie but I can't even sew buttons let alone dog collars!) The sad thing is that even with her summer hair cut, you can't really see the collars under all the fur! But I still know she's a well dressed dog.
