Eek!

Lloyd is shedding already and he's only 8 1/2 weeks old. Well, it's not too too bad...fur is noticed on black clothing after holding him, not really on the floor, etc. The vet said it's a bit early for him to blow his puppy coat and could be because of the hot and humid weather. Do you all think this is indicative of his shedding level when he's all grown up?

Thanks!

Gracie was shedding when we brought her home at 8 weeks in January. She still sheds and she is now 6 months. Her hair floats around the house on the hard floors and I do vacuum it up from the carpet too. Her hair does show up on black clothing too. ;)

Hopefully there's less shedding once her adult coat comes in :)

Here's to hoping. ;) She sheds in my car too - guess what color of fabric seats I have? Lol. I think she sheds everywhere, but that the long blond dog fur is just more noticeable on the dark stuff. I have noticed a bit more shedding since spring arrived.
Regardless, she is a Sweetie and even though I didn't win the lotto as far as shedding goes, there are other benefits like her hair doesn't get matted and I don't have to take her to the groomers as much.
Ditto. Ace was shedding we we got him at 7 weeks. He's now 6months old and still sheds. When he got his first shave, he didn't shed as much, but now that he's growing back in, the shedding has increased. Whenever he shakes out, you can see the fur fly off of his body. I wear a lot of black, it's always covered in fur. We also have hair floating on the hardwoods. I vacuum everyday. Oh and there is hair all over my black dashboard in my car.

Can you tell where it's coming from?  Our dogs only shed from their tails..

It's coming from his back where the fur is soft, wavy and fluffy.

Thanks!

I think this is an indicator of shedding, but with doodles one can hope that it will change.  We don't wear dark clothing at our house and mostly wear denim pants as fur doesn't stick so badly to it! :-}

Oh no! Yes, I'm going to hope it changes with the adult coat...or at least hope the shedding will be less than a full-bred golden.

Thanks!

Is Lloyd F1 or F1b?

He's F1. I knew there would be a chance he would shed but I didn't think it would start so soon (if at all), especially since he is quite wavy.

I wouldn't have thought so either, but do Golden or lab puppies shed early? I'm actually not sure since I've only had a poodle before our lil doodle. I'd say you may have a shedder, but hopefully enough poodle that it'd be low shedding.

I've never had a golden or lab before either. I assumed all puppies didn't shed this early? Even my pugs didn't shed as puppies and they were ultra high shedders as adults. I hope the poodle low-shedding gene kicks in at some point!
