We discovered this by accident, but our Cooper loves to rip apart cardboard boxes.  Just make sure it's safe, no staples or tapes on them.  I used to never get boxes when I purchase items from Costco.  Now at the checkout line, I always say "yes please!" every time they ask me if I wanted a box.  lol.  Amazon boxes are great too!

I think it helps Cooper with his teething/biting issues.  Just thought I'd toss this out there in case anyone wants to know what you can do with your puppy.  lol.  I would even give him cereal boxes and hide a treat or two inside of it!

I think I would be concerned about the ink/dye being ingested, along with the cardboard causing a blockage.
Hhhmm I never thought of the ink/dye part. I guess I won't give him the colored ones anymore. Cooper doesn't injest it. He bites/rips it and spits it out. So I end up with a big mess on the floor. Lol. I do keep an eye on him when he is playing with it, actually I keep an eye on him ALL the time. Waiting for the days I can turn my head away!

On occasion I give my doodle the empty paper towel roll.  She has a ball destroying it!  :>)

I too would be concerned about blockage. I've come home twice now to delivery boxes with an end eaten and no shreds in sight. I don't see it in her poop so I'm hoping it dissolved and came out. You may not want to teach him it is ok now because it might be hard to stop later. I used to make fists like I was going to fight and Riley would jump up on me. Not a problem during play but then she started jumping on everyone. Thankfully she unlearned it quickly. :-)
We let Harley have his way with cardboard boxes. He's almost a year old, but like Cooper, he doesn't eat it - just rips it to shreds leaving me with quite the mess to clean up! Lol. He's always supervised and we are very watchful to see that none of it is ingested. It seems to help get some of his energy out, at least a bit. He really shows no interest in any of the little pieces once he's done shredding. I would just be watchful of what kind of box he's attacking and make sure he's supervised, bit we've had no issues with Harley and cardboard. Good luck!

Annabelle loves her boxes too. She seems to only want to rip them, maybe chew them a bit before she spits them out. I have been giving her my grandsons organic diaper boxes. I am assuming that they use vegetable dye and not ink. She likes the paper towel rolls too, but not as much as a good old box.
