Wish us luck! Allergy test this Fri.

After lots of conversations with our son's allergist and testing a bunch of other dogs, we are heading to visit a labradoodle breeder this Friday to test our son's allergies with a litter and their mom to see if he reacts.

We are both SO hopeful!

For those curious, our son is apparently allergic to dog saliva but only reacts to some dogs (he's actually only really reacted to one specific dog so we're hopeful this isn't a general allergy and could have been triggered by that one dog's diet). The allergist thinks this is actually unique to each dog (or genetic line of dogs) and that it won't change significantly over the dog's life (like a coat/dander allergy would) so we should be able to tell if he will react to a puppy (which is not the case if he were allergic to dander).

Learn something new every day, ha.

Anyway, this Friday is the big day to find out if we get to bring home a little pup in a few weeks so send luck vibes please!

Oh wonderful! A helpful thing I use is Nature's Miracle Allergen Blocker, it's guaranteed or you money back. They have an air/carpet/fabric spray and a spray that can be used directly on the dog. I use the air/carpet/fabric spray all the time to help out when friends and family come over. The dog spray I have bought but have not used yet, I know people that use it and have had luck. I'm not sure if the air/etc spray works because I have been using it for a while, but I haven't had as many friends sneezing whenever they step into my place! It also has a very very faint smell- I'm not a fan of super strong smells so I enjoy this! These might come in handy when your puppy goes through a coat change and there's puppy hair everywhere (and by proxy saliva on the hair) or you could use them all the time. I get a good amount of use out of them too so I don't feel like I'm wasting money :)
