This is the only summer our family didn't do a "summer vacation" trip because we now have Cooper.  Since he is still young, we feel bad to board him.  We're thinking of taking a one night trip to Pismo Beach or Santa Barbara and stay at a hotel that allows pet.

Anyone familiar with Pismo Lighthouse Suites or Beach House Inn in Santa Barbara?  What is your intake on going on an overnight trip with your doodle at 6.5 months old?  What do I need to prepare for...anything unexpected you can foresee?  lol We've never traveled with a dog before.  We did take our guinea pigs to big bear once! LOL.  Thanks!

I am taking one year old butch to Lake Michigan for a weekend. I can't wait to hear ideas and suggestions. I already have a butch list started. Planning on staying close to house where we are staying. I just don't think he is ready for dog friendly restaurants this year.
Hi Jenny! You might get good responses by posting this in the southern california doodle group rather than puppy madness - not everyone sees this here. Good luck, I'd love to do the same, I'm tired of NJ! ;) oh, and I'd prob bring a gate if not crate or maybe in addition to... Have fun!
Thank you! I realized it after I posted it. Lol ok I'll repost it there! Now how do I do that without typing it all over again? Lol let me see....hard to see everything on iPhone. Cooper is waking up so it'll prob have to wait til later.

Just go to that group and click on start a discussion, then copy and paste it.

We 'camp' at Pismo Coast Village for all the weeks we can get in the summer.  We will be there July 6 - 10,  July 18 - 23 and August 18 to 30.  If you are going to be there for any of the times we are perhaps we could meet up at the dog park in Arroyo Grande or Morro Bay or at one of the restaurants where dogs are allowed. The Lighthouse Suites in Pismo looks pretty nice  when we drive by. It is on the cliffs above the beach.   There is another place that we have stayed that allows dogs.  It is called Sea Gypsy and is actually a time share that rents rooms out if they are available. It is just north of the pier and right on the beach.  If you go up the coast a few miles to Morro Bay (a little fishing village) you could stay at the Bayfront Inn (1150 Embarcadero93442 Morro Bay).  I know another dk member who has stayed there a couple of times and we have visited in her room.  It is majorly dog friendly and you dog even gets a welcome basket. You are right on the embarcadero and can walk to shops and food.
