Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I have a six month old female golden doodle named Maltilda. She has been such a blessing in our lives. She has been so good for our family and we love her tons. She was potty trained very easily and has such a great temperament. She is very easy going and the best dog. Except when somebody comes over or we come home from being gone and she is so excited she tinkles. I have tried several things. I usually put her in the kennel or take her out to go to the bathroom first. But if somebody comes to the door or just stops over and I can't get her out she is so excited she tinkles. I have been told she will out grow this but this is really starting to bother me. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

I have a 4 year old male ALD and he used to do the same thing. What worked for us was simply COMPLETELY IGNORE the dog when entering the house. No greeting, no eye contact until the dog settles down (usually less than 5 minutes). My Oliver will still do it if someone talks in a HIGH PITCH voice. I personally do not believe it is a behavior that is outgrown by all dogs, it depends on the dogs personally. Good luck :)
If it's excitement peeing and not submissive peeing, she may outgrow it. I agree with Nancy's advice about staying calm, ignoring her when you first get home, etc. Some info:

My Guinness did this for about a year, and then he outgrew it. We always ignored him when we were coming or going and told our guests to do the same thing. If he got excited and peed, I never said a word....just calmly cleaned it up.
Argh, yes, we have this problem with Ruby, who is 7 months old. I call it the "I'm so happy to see you I could pee and I will right now." Please let her outgrow this.
I read that one family greeted their guests outside when possible, just to avoid clean up.
Our 2 year old Beowoof did the same thing for the first year. He has pretty much grown out of it. The only time he does it now is when we go to the vet. We use the "ignore him" rule when we come home, too.
SoSa, I would just wait a while before giving anything. Dogs almost always outgrow this.
I agree with Nancy. I would not use this stuff.
