Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hello everyone! May I introduce you to Bink? He is 8 weeks old and is an F1 goldendoodle from a Englisch Golden Retriever and en Standard Poodle. He is very smart and learns very quick. He is so adorable and sweet!

But I have a question. We chose Bink because we tought he wil become a doodle with a fleece coat. But now I've read the most doodles should have a beard or else they probebly will develop a straight coat. Bink doesn't have a beard. He does have little curls on his ears and wavy hair around his neck and back. His legs and tail have short straight hair. Does this mean he wil have a straight of flat coat? Now he is shedding a little bit. Do puppies always shed al little bit or does this mean he always wil be shedding?

Just for the record. It does not matter if he is going to shed a lot or will never have a fleece coat. I allready falled in love with him and never want to loose him. The reason why I ask this question is because I look for puppy's with a similar coat (in fact a puppy with all this contradictions: curls, waves and straight with no beard) but can't find them. When I find a puppy with a coat like Bink, they all have a beard?

If you want you can also visit my photoalbum for more pictures of Bink and his mum and dad.

This is my Pippa. There are more pictures of her on my page. She does have the hair like you are seeing: some curls, some waves and some straight with no beard. She looks like a mini version of a Golden Retriever. Unfortunately, she does shed but the good thing about that is that you don't have to pay for grooming!. I couldn't love her any more than I already do. She has my heart just like Bink has yours! He is precious and I am sure he will be an awesome dog!

Wow what a beautiful color Pippa has! Thanks for the pictures, it gives me a good idea how Bink may look in the future!

bink is adorable! congrats!

it looks like he is growing little 'wings' on his cheeks. if you look closely, you can see little wisps of hairs sticking out from the side of his face. i'm certainly no expert, but these may be a very early indicator of eventual facial furnishings.

my puppy, yogi, looked a lot like bink when we brought him home, and i also wondered if he was a flat-coated doodle. like bink, yogi had wings on his cheeks before his beard grew in... and it has definitely grown in! so, if i had to bet, i would think that bink will grow into his doodle looks over the next few months.

and of course doodles change SO MUCH as they grow! both of our dogs are unrecognizable now compared to what they looked like as puppies.

have fun! enjoy and take lots of photos!

What a cool name, Yogi! Thanks for your reply, I really appreciate it. Now I look every day: did his wings grow allready?? ;-) If they change so much I will be sure I'll capture every look on a picture!

He looks like he's going to get very wavy to me.  I've read many times that the ears are a clear indicator about the final coat & his are very sweet & wavy.  Between his parents, you can't go wrong - I bet he'll be very fluffy in no time!  I love the name you picked too - Very cute!

Your reply really gives me hope he become wavy! Sorry my englisch is not so good, so what do you mean by 'between his parent, you cant go wrong'?

It's a dutch dog name. Translated in english is: tough guy/punk/forceful guy. We liked it very much because in the Netherlands this sounds really funny.
I was just thinking that his dad is so curly & his mom has waves so he definitely will have a lot of body in his coat. His name sounds funny to me too. I've noticed it seems "dog people" seem to have good senses of humor.;)

He is adorable.  I think he looks a lot like his Mama who is a very beautiful girl. He also resembles Lori's Pippa.

Brink is adorable.  Here is a pic of Haley at about 8 weeks. Sorry I can't post directly, am on my tablet.

Oh thanks for the picture! I think Bink has a very similar coat to Haley! Does Haley shed? Bink does but it is his puppy coat. I was wondering If puppy's always shed? Maybe it will be less when he is older?

Haley does shed and has always shed. I have seen worse though.

Anne...Thank you so much for being honest about the shedding.  I was told my F2 Labradoodle would look like Haley, & clearly he doesn't resemble him a bit!  Mine is all lab & sheds incessantly, which I wasn't prepared for so I really appreciate knowing that the chance exists regardless of coat.  Thank you.
