I found Wynnie trembling today for no reason. She woke up normally and jumped up on the bed to enjoy some "rub a tummy time" with DW and me. Did her usual business outside and ate breakfast. Ninety minutes later as I was about to go outside, I found her sitting in the living room-trembling.
I picked her up and held her but the trembling continued. She seemed to settle down after a mile walk and some fetch time. I brushed her out but she still is needy. At the present time, she is lying down on my lap and resting. She has never exhibited this behavior before. Anyone have an explanation?

Maybe she heard a noise that frightened her but that you couldn't hear?

Did you have a small earthquake in the area? A few months ago the same thing happened to Annabelle. I had no idea what had happened to her to make her so frightened. I was with her all morning and couldn't think of anything that might have triggered it. Later that night while watching the local news they reported there had been a small 4.2 earthquake. I didn't feel anything but Annabelle must have since the time frame fit perfect. I live in Michigan so they aren't common here.

What about a new cleaning product or some other new substance in the air? Sadie sometimes gets very freaked out by new smells--particularly cleaning products. Those are the only times she's ever really trembled uncontrollably.

New noises scare Loki really badly and he will shake or just sit with his head hung, the cold air return is very scary but it didn't scare him until they did a tune up on it a while back. Hopefully she is back to her old self soon!
Yes, she is back to her old cuddly self. She went to Agility class today and did fine. Still not sure what triggered her trembles. No earthquake has been reported on the news. No new cleaning products were used today. Karen may be right a noise frightened her that I couldn't hear. But, she is good with noises....fireworks, thunder and motorcycles don't seem to scare her.

Thank you all for answering my inquiry.

While reading this thread, I remembered something.  About a month after we had brought Myla home, we found her trembling also.  We had no idea why, because just like Wynnie, she had been fine earlier.  What we did find the next day, was that she had thrown up behind her doggy bed.  We the figured  that she had been trembling because she had no idea what had happened or, she was just not feeling good.  She was totally fine later and I only just remembered this when I read your post.  I guess if this was the case with Wynnie, you would have discovered the vomit by now but some dogs eat it up as soon as they throw it up.  Just a thought and I'm so glad she's back to her old self!!!!!

Your reply is very useful. At your suggestion, I just searched our living and dining rooms for any signs of sickness and found nothing. She had finished her morning meal before the episode and perhaps Wynnie had some indigestion and gas that she didn't understand. Certainly, this could be a possibility.

These doodles are certainly fascinating. You just have to love them.

Question: How long ago to you give Spot On Flea and Tick Treatment?

Exactly two weeks ago.

A few brands, not all, have adverse effects such as trembling, seizures, etc

What brand do you use?

Parastar Plus
Mystery Solved! Karen and Jackdoodle's suggestion that a sound caused Wynnie's trembling now appears to be correct. Today, I decided to go for a bike ride. I put on my Pulse Rate Monitor (PRM) on my wrist and connected the chest band. With Wynnie present, I pressed a button on the PRM and it gave a sharp beep. Wynnie started to tremble. On Tuesday of this week when Wynnie had the trembling event, I had done the same thing with the PRM. The sharp beep and the radio waves from the chest belt to the wrist watch must give off a low frequency electrical impulse or sound wave that scares Wynnie and causes her to tremble. Circumstantial evidence...yes but there seems to no other explanation.
