Is the spray Vetericyn? Or a cortisone spray?
There's a topical lotion with chlorhexidine called Resi-KetoChlor that JD's derm vet has had me use on his feet for that. Maybe you could get it (or something similar) from your vet?
Oh we JUST had this happen to us earlier this week...our pup got stung in between his toes and that got irritated and turned into a hot spot on the inside top of his paw pads...he was VERY uncomfortable :( We went to the vet where they shaved it and put on some ointment - they gave us an antibiotic and prednizone to treat the inflammation. This has been very helpful since our pup is very active and would lick off any ointment we use. You'll definitely want to trim the hair around the hot spot and get it cleaned - we have a book about pup maladies that recommends a cool compress to help loosen any scabby yuckiness that comes from hot spots. Hope your baby is better soon!
Thank you for your advice. I did take him to the vet and she said we caught it early so he didn't need to be shaved. She said he probably got a bite. He's also on an antibiotic and low dose steroid. We have a spray to use if we see him licking but so far the medicine seems to be helping. So glad we didn't need to use a cone!
