Today, there are many memories and never forget stories on 9.11.2001

This is one of my memories of that day, even though I read it in a blog written by Donna and Quincy, right here on DK,  many years later.

It is worth revisiting again today.  Please click on the link below and make sure you dont skip that awesome video.

Thank you, Canada

Thanks for reminding us RJ......this gave me such hope....and it still does.

Thanks for posting this again, Joanne. I'd forgotten it, and it's still as uplifting as it was the first time I saw it.

Thank you for the reminder. I remember reading about that sometime afterward. I remember thinking what awesome neighbors we have. Today brings back memories of my golden Charlie. My work closed for the day after this happened and I came home to an empty house except for Charlie. I watched the news and cried on his shoulder all day. I lost him to cancer the following April. I can't watch the video at the moment.

Thanks for reposting this story, Joanne!!

I'll always remember this.   When bad people do bad things.....good people always step up to the plate....and then some.

Joanne ~ Thanks for reposting.  We have terrific neighbors!  No doubt about it.

Thank you for reminding us of this discussion.  Donna's post was so uplifting.  Thank you Gander, and so many other citizens  of Newfoundland and elsewhere for your kindnesses and comfort.

Thank you for reposting, Joanne.  Today, the kindness and comfort offered by our Newfoundland neighbors doesn't surprise me -- but still fills me with admiration and hope.  Even now so many years later, my memories of that day are awful and surreal. I worked for a very large mutual fund company and many of us went to NYC regularly for meetings at the WTC.  We had friends, family and colleagues who worked there and we were helpless as we watched the horror unfold.  Phone service was down.  So many unaccounted for for so many hours. On my way home I felt so lost, I stopped by a church where I saw people gathering. I'm sure I looked a little strange. The service was ending, but an usher saw me and came walking out to me and gave me a huge hug.  Funny how I will always be grateful for that hug from stranger because just like this video, it gave me hope.  Thank you Canada.

Thanks for sharing this Joann. After I viewed the video, I had to watch a few others I found. Our neighbors in Newfoundland are something else.

All I could think of was my husband up in the air as this was happening, on a flight headed to Newark Airport. His flight was diverted to Baltimore and he eventually found a rental car to drive home. He said the roads were eerily deserted, as was the sky. Terrible. The airport remained closed and he couldn't get his car that was parked there for days. And I remember seeing the smoke. Emergency equipment that was used was stored in our town, I remember seeing rows of equipment coming and going. We have a memorial a few blocks away in a park that has a piece of melted steel from the WTC, we visit every day walking J and J.

Some of the steel used in the new Freedom Tower came from a steel plant in our town.

Hope for the future.

Generous in spirit and willing to share what they have. We can all take a lesson from our Maritime friends.

Thanks again, neighbors.  So moving every time I read it.
